The Power of Change ...

Conference Call Recording Now Available

Kirtan Kriya - The 'Change Maker' Meditation

Last month Shakta held a ‘free’ conference call to learn about and practice the ‘Change Maker’ Meditation. The ‘Change Maker’ meditation is called ‘Kirtan Kriya.’ It uses the primal sounds Sa Ta Na Ma to subtly change any demoting habits and re-confirm promoting habits.

Plus, on this call Shakta shared the results of several important medical studies regarding the effects of ‘Kirtan Kriya’ on the brain. This includes how just 12 minutes a day for 8 weeks can increase memory, slow down deterioration in the brain and promote overall cognitive health.

Now you can listen to the ‘Change Maker’ conference call any time of day or night. Click Here to listen.

The Healing Power of

Triple Gong and Mantra

with Shakta, Hari Dev, Tej Karam

Friday - August 21 - 6:30 pm to 8 pm
$16 adv / $20 door  (register)
Come join us for our once-each-month session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra.’ As always, we begin every ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, not two, but three, beautiful Paiste gongs! Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we tune into a different level of intelligence, consciousness and spirit.

So, come join us for a very special ‘Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru’ session of triple gong and mantra tomorrow, Friday, August 21.

Seating is limited. Pre-registration is best! Click Here to pre-register.

Shakta's Teaching

One Under the Sun

 Sunday - August 23 - 10:30 am

Veggie potluck after class!

The sole purpose of life is to embrace the soul. We are here to goad our consciousness across time and space to reach our original condition – alignment with the One!

Mostly, however, we want to be one of a kind! And, that’s all right, too. That’s the Creator’s idea for us as well. That’s a perfect and divine state of being.

We are supposed to live with each other in love, perform our work as a worship and follow the path of the One. One within ourselves. One with each other. There is only One. There has always been only One. There will always be only One.

‘One Under the Sun’ is that urge to return to something bigger than ourselves. The yogis call it Oneness consciousness. Join Shakta this Sunday to realize your:
  - destiny to become One
  - nobility and dignity
  - Infinite teacher within, and
  - unique destiny task that no one else can complete!

Drop-in’s welcome. Or, click here to pre-register.

Guru Ram Das (1534–1581)

Guru Ram Das Chant

August 15 through August 25

Guru Guru Wahay Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru
“Wise, wise is the one who serves Infinity.”
Now through August 25th, all classes at KYL feature a special mantra called the ‘Guru Ram Das Chant.’ We traditionally begin chanting this mantra 11 days prior to Yogi Bhajan’s birthday on Aug. 26th. Guru Ram Das was the 4th of the Sikh Guru Saints, a great teacher and master of Kundalini Yoga of 16th century India known for his humility and compassion. Yogi Bhajan considered Guru Ram Das his teacher on the astral plane. It is by the grace of Guru Ram Das that we are able to practice the technology of Kundalini Yoga.

Nirgun & Sirgun
This mantra has two parts, Nirgun and Sirgun. The first part, Guru Guru Wahay Guru, is a Nirgun mantra which vibrates only to Infinity. It has no finite qualities. It is the unknown. It projects the mind outwards to the source of all knowledge and ecstasy.

The second part, Guru Ram Das Guru, is a Sirgun mantra. This relates to the manifest energy or form and means, “the wisdom that comes as a servant of Infinity.” In combination, the parts of the mantra project the mind to Infinity and allow the guiding faculty to come into your practical activity.

Miracle Mantra
Also called the ‘miracle mantra,’ Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru invokes the protective energy of Guru Ram Das. It can rescue you in times of trouble. It projects the mind to Infinity then allows guidance to come into your finite, daily activities. When you chant his mantra, you can re-write any sense of your being limited. You will know yourself as an unlimited being! Bottom line, if you ever need a miracle, this is the mantra to chant!

Come to class at KYL between now and August 25th, chant 'Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru' and watch as miracles both small and large manifest in your life!

Celebration of a Master

Yogi Bhajan’s Birthday

Wednesday - August 26

Early Morning Sadhana at KYL

(Doors open at 4:00 am. Doors lock at 4:30 am. Doors re-open at 7:00 am.)
Featuring 2.5 Hours Chanting 'Long Ek Ong Kar'

4:30 am – Japji Sahib*
4:50 am – Warm-Ups
5:00 am – Guru Guru Wahe Guru, Guru Ram Das Guru
5:12 am – Long Ek Ong Kar**
7:45 am – Hukam*** and Breakfast Snacks.

Come honor the life and legacy of the Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, the man who brought the teachings of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation to the west in 1968. Before then, these teachings were considered a secret science. Yogi Bhajan’s fundamental belief was that happiness was the birthright of every person. He spent his entire life teaching people how they could live to their highest potential.

Synchronized Chanting Worldwide
Once each year, on Yogi Bhajan’s birthday, the entire worldwide community of Kundalini Yogis gathers for a simultaneous synchronized chanting of two mantras. One of them, Long Ek Ong Kar, we chant for 2.5 hours.

Prayers Are Answered!
Yogi Bhajan once said that whenever you chant Long Ek Ong Kar for 2.5 hours on his birthday that you would receive the answers to your prayers! Come be uplifted in the celebration of the life of one individual who has changed the lives of tens of thousands of people all around the world!

There is no charge for this event.
* Japji Sahib – A prayer written by Guru Nanak, the 1st of the Sikh Gurus, which relates the conscious mind to the soul. It is a technology of progression that clears all the chakras.

** The syllables are Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru. This was the only mantra meditation that Yogi Bhajan taught during his first year in the United States. The syllables mean, “The creator and all creation are one. This is our true identity. The ecstasy of this wisdom is Great beyond words.”

*** Hukam – The divine order of the day.

Moon Watch

New Moon - August 14

11 Days After - August 25

Full Moon - August 29

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
Sat, in the language of Gods, Sanskrit, means Truth; Nam means Name. So without dispute we can say that Universal Consciousness, that Universal Spirit, that creative force in us, has a Universal Name and that is Sat Nam.
