The Change Maker Meditation

Saturday July 18 - 8 am Central

Dial: 1-605-475-2090          Access Code: 788139
-- Do you have some unfinished business that could use a gentle push towards completion?
-- Are there any less-than-positive habits you would like to break?
-- Would you like to improve your memory, concentration and focus?

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then join Shakta for a free conference call to learn a powerful yogic tool that can help you achieve a higher level of understanding about yourself and the world around you.

The Kundalini Meditation that Shakta will share is one that many practice together 40 days prior to the beginning of KYL’s Teacher Training courses. This meditation uses the syllables Sa Ta Na Ma:

Sa = Infinity, cosmos, beginning
Ta = Life, existence
Na = Death
Ma = Rebirth.

Sa Ta Na Ma is, quite literally, the cycle of creation. From the Infinite comes life and individual existence. From life comes death or change. From death comes the rebirth of consciousness to the joy of the Infinite through which compassion leads back to life.

Shakta will also discuss details and answer questions regarding the journey of personal growth and transformation that is called Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training - in Chicago, Illinois, USA, begining Aug. 28-29-30.
Happy Anniversary...

11 Years of Wedded Bliss!

July 18, 2004 to

The photo shows Hari Dev (left) and Shakta riding off to their wedded life in a horse-drawn carriage.  A sign on the back of the carriage read
"Marriage is a Carriage unto Infinity."
Click Here to see pictures of Shakta and Hari Dev’s wedding day 11 years ago! Their marriage ceremony was held in the studio! Yup, they were married in Kundalini Yoga in the Loop's studio 514! (That was one Sunday where the morning class was cancelled... for good reason!) KRI’s CEO Nirvair Singh Khalsa performed the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony a private bus took guests for photos in front of Buckingham Fountain in Chicago’s Grant Park. Then it was onto a beautiful ship for a luncheon cruise on Lake Michigan along the Chicago lakefront.

Shakta's Teaching

One Under the Sun

 Sunday - July 19 - 10:30am

Veggie potluck after class!

The sole purpose of life is to embrace the soul. We are here to goad our consciousness across time and space to reach our original condition – alignment with the One!

Mostly, however, we want to be one of a kind! And, that’s all right, too. That’s the Creator’s idea for us as well. That’s a perfect and divine state of being.

We are supposed to live with each other in love, perform our work as a worship and follow the path of the One. One within ourselves. One with each other. There is only One. There has always been only One. There will always be only One.

‘One Under the Sun’ is that urge to return to something bigger than ourselves. The yogis call it Oneness consciousness. Join Shakta this Sunday to realize your:
  - destiny to become One
  - nobility and dignity
  - Infinite teacher within, and
  - unique destiny task that no one else can complete!

Drop-in’s welcome. Or, click here to pre-register.

31 Minutes can Change Your Life...

Free Meditation Sessions with Shakta

Sundays - 1:00 to 1:45 pm

July 19, 26,  August 2, 9
- Is it difficult to ‘quiet’ your mind?
- Do you feel like you just can’t meditate?
- Could you use some guidance in how to get the most out of meditation?
- Would you like to learn how meditation can improve your life?

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions then come join Shakta on four special Sunday afternoons. She’ll answer your questions and share tips for getting the most out of your meditation practice. Plus, you’ll get to meditate with her and others for 31-minutes...  straight!

Meditation is a regular part of every Kundalini Yoga class at KYL. And, the benefits of meditating regularly are numerous, including:
• Your blood pressure normalizes
• Your heart rate slows
• Your immune function improves
• You use oxygen more efficiently
• You produce fewer stress hormones, such as adrenaline, cortisol
• You make more sex hormones, particularly DHEA
• Your pituitary gland releases more growth hormone (an anti-aging chemical)

Meditation is a process that can be blissful or even cozy at times. Other times you can be downright miserable! That’s because meditation is a cleansing process. The most important part of meditating is to ‘keep up!’ Let the meditation do its job of cleaning up any negativity. That way your best and highest self can come shining through!

These four Sundays of meditation with Shakta are complimentary. A different meditation will be practiced for 31-minutes each day. You may come for just one session or for all four! No registration is required. Simply drop-in.

Plus, immediately following each meditation session Shakta will answer questions about Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training (Levels 1, 2 and 3).

Double Gong & Mantra Night

Friday - July 24 - 6:30 pm

with Shakta and Hari Dev

$16 advance / $20 door
Come join us for our once-each-month session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra.’ As always, we begin every ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, but two, beautiful Paiste gongs! Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we tune into a different level of intelligence, consciousness and spirit.

So, come join us for a very special ‘One Under the Sun’ session of double gong and mantra on Friday, July 24.

Seating is limited. Pre-registration is recommended. Click Here to pre-register.

Moon Watch

New Moon - July 15

11 Days After - July 26

Full Moon - July 31

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience. This statement goes against every religion, but it is a fact. Your spirit took the birth, not your body.
