Come with Shakta and Hari Dev to see...
Shakta and Hari Dev have tickets to see the Chicago screening of the movie AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, October 29, at the Gene Siskel Film Center - 164 N. State Street, Chicago, 60601 (the film also plays on Sunday Oct. 26). AWAKE is a biography about Paramahansa Yogananda, a Hindu teacher who brought yoga and meditation to the West in the 1920s. Yogananda is also the author of the book, “Autobiography of a Yogi,” considered a spiritual classic by many. (Apparently, it was the only book Steve Jobs had on his iPad!)  Autobiography of a Yogi told the personal account of Yogananda’s quest for enlightenment by sharing his struggles along the path. He helped make many of the ancient Vedic teachings accessible to a modern audience, attracting many devotees and inspiring millions of others.  Hari Dev says that this book made him want to be a yogi!

The film was created over the course of three years with the participation of 30 different countries. The documentary examines the world of yoga, modern and ancient, east and west and explores why millions today have turned their attention inward in the pursuit of self-realization. AWAKE ultimately shares the story of humanity itself--the universal struggle of all beings to free themselves from suffering and to seek lasting happiness.

Determination

Shakta's Theme for Sunday

Oct 19 - 10:30 am
veggie potluck follows class
Determination is a quality that we all admire. Having great determination is also known as having great will-power, resolve, purpose, fortitude, grit, strength of mind and strength of character. Shakta’s been known to have great determination from time-to-time! ;-)

When we are determined we push ourselves beyond the limitations. Being ‘determined’ becomes a priority. We are determined from the first moment to the final act.

Determination requires commitment. We recognize we have a specific purpose in the play of life. Honoring that purpose provides a self-determination to overcome any impossibility along the way.

A lack of determination may arise from a lack of self-esteem or from insecurity. Living with indecisiveness or denying ourselves the opportunity to fully express ourselves may also build barriers to achieving our excellence.

Come to class with Shakta this weekend to:
-- get rid of any inner deficiency
  -- make the impossible possible
-- uncover the strength of who you are and manifest it
  -- live a life of self-determination, self-achievement and self-excellence!
Ghostly Gong Night...

Triple Gong and Mantra Night

Throw Out the Ghosts!

Friday - October 31
6:30 to 8 pm

with Shakta Kaur, Hari Dev and Tej Karam Singh

We all have ghosts.
What kind of ghosts do you have?
Are you willing to be the ghost to ‘throw out the ghosts?’

Human beings are plagued by many ghosts. But, really, they are perpetual fears. Being unsuccessful, being poor, being sick, being alone, being divorced, being married even being in love (!) are all ‘human’ ghosts.

To celebrate Halloween our popular session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong and Mantra’ is designed to clear out the attic of your mind to ‘throw out the ghosts!’ And, once again we’ll feature not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste gongs! KYL Teacher Tej Karam Singh brings his gong to join Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev for this very special evening of ghostly gonging!

We begin every ‘gong and mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with all three Paiste symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness.

Click Here to pre-register for the deep vibrational healing of October’s ‘throw out the ghosts’ triple gong and mantra on Friday, October 31st.

Conscious Communication - Level 2 KYTT

Level 2 "Conscious Communication" - Puerto Rico

With Mahan Rishi Singh, D.C., Nirbhe Kaur and Shakta Kaur

March 12-18, 2015
includes a lovly "free day" to enjoy the island
Communication is a gift to know. Communication is a gift to understand. Communication is a gift to realize. If you do not use communication for these three things, it is better that you shut up and don’t talk.’ -- Yogi Bhajan

Join us for this unique seven-day course (one of five Level 2 modules) to learn how to speak — meditatively and intuitively — not just to talk! The discipline of conscious communication qualifies you to speak each word one-pointedly, faithfully, courageously, directly and simply.

In this course you will learn to:

  • Gather your energy and awareness to support what you intend to communicate.
  • Practice harmonious communication in areas of conflict or confrontation.
  • Consciously communicate at the subtle frequencies of your chakras.
  • Realize prayer as the intimate presence of the Infinite within you.

This is our second Level 2 course at the beautiful Copamarina Resort. You will love the ‘Copa.’ Their staff is truly accommodating. Our classroom is on the waterfront. Our vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared. Our group dinners under the trellis are nothing short of magical. And, we guarantee that you will enjoy relaxing in the hammocks scattered around the property during breaks from class!

Moon Watch
CURRENT MOON

New Moon - October 23

11 Days After - November 3

Full Moon - November 6

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.
