Ghostly Gong Night...

Triple Gong and Mantra Night

Throw Out the Ghosts!

Friday - October 31
6:30 to 8 pm

with Shakta Kaur, Hari Dev and Tej Karam Singh

We all have ghosts.
What kind of ghosts do you have?
Are you willing to be the ghost to ‘throw out the ghosts?’

Human beings are plagued by many ghosts. But, really, they are perpetual fears. Being unsuccessful, being poor, being sick, being alone, being divorced, being married even being in love (!) are all ‘human’ ghosts.

To celebrate Halloween our popular session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong and Mantra’ is designed to clear out the attic of your mind to ‘throw out the ghosts!’ And, once again we’ll feature not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste gongs! KYL Teacher Tej Karam Singh brings his gong to join Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev for this very special evening of ghostly gonging!

We begin every ‘gong and mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with all three Paiste symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness.

Click Here to pre-register for the deep vibrational healing of October’s ‘throw out the ghosts’ triple gong and mantra on Friday, October 31st.

Our Fall Theme...

KYL’s October Theme

Yoga & Meditation for Determination
Determination is a quality that we all admire. Having great determination is also known as having great will-power, resolve, purpose, fortitude, grit, strength of mind and strength of character.

When we are determined we push ourselves beyond the limitations. Being ‘determined’ becomes a priority. We are determined from the first moment to the final act.

Determination requires commitment. We recognize we have a specific purpose in the play of life. Honoring that purpose provides a self-determination to overcome any impossibility along the way.

A lack of determination may arise from a lack of self-esteem or from insecurity. Living with indecisiveness or denying ourselves the opportunity to fully express ourselves also manifests as a lack of determimation.

Build bridges--not barriers--to achieving your excellence.  Come to KYL this fall to:
--get rid of any inner deficiency
--make the impossible possible
--uncover the strength of who you are and manifest it
--live a life of self-determination, self-achievement and self-excellence!

Conscious Communication - Level 2 KYTT

Level 2 "Conscious Communication" - Puerto Rico

With Mahan Rishi Singh, D.C., Nirbhe Kaur and Shakta Kaur

March 12-18, 2015
includes a lovly "free day" to enjoy the island
Communication is a gift to know. Communication is a gift to understand. Communication is a gift to realize. If you do not use communication for these three things, it is better that you shut up and don’t talk.’ -- Yogi Bhajan

Join us for this unique seven-day course (one of five Level 2 modules) to learn how to speak — meditatively and intuitively — not just to talk! The discipline of conscious communication qualifies you to speak each word one-pointedly, faithfully, courageously, directly and simply.

In this course you will learn to:

  • Gather your energy and awareness to support what you intend to communicate.
  • Practice harmonious communication in areas of conflict or confrontation.
  • Consciously communicate at the subtle frequencies of your chakras.
  • Realize prayer as the intimate presence of the Infinite within you.

This is our second Level 2 course at the beautiful Copamarina Resort. You will love the ‘Copa.’ Their staff is truly accommodating. Our classroom is on the waterfront. Our vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared. Our group dinners under the trellis are nothing short of magical. And, we guarantee that you will enjoy relaxing in the hammocks scattered around the property during breaks from class!

Tuesday Lunch Time Classes
with Charandeep Kaur

Oct. 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 4
12:15 to 1:00 pm

KYL is happy to welcome Charandeep Kaur (Lisa) Gillis -one of our newest graduates - to the KYL teaching roster! Charandeep has that ‘invincible’ quality present in all warrior women. You sense it the moment you meet her. Yet, incredibly, the humility of her spiritual name comes through front and center as well.

‘Charan’ means ‘one who loves to serve at the lotus feet of God.’ ‘Deep’ denotes ‘light.’ Together, Charandeep Kaur means that she is a princes of grace who feels a deep joy in her soul when she serves God and when she allows the light of God to shine within her heart.

So, come join Charandeep on one of these Tuesdays to ‘relax, restore and rejuvenate’ before you head back to the office!

Food For The Gods

Sarah Pascale's Awesome Treats

Sarah’s Awesome Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
(or replace with whole wheat pastry flour, barley flour, or spelt flour)
1/3 cup maple sugar
2 tsp. Baking powder
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/4 tsp. fine sea salt

1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup safflower oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp molasses
1/4 cup chopped dried plums or raisins or other dried fruit... or chocolate or carob chips! (optional)
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts or any kind of nuts

Preheat the oven to 350. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine the oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl combine the syrup, oil, vanilla extract, and molasses.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and stir to combine.  Fold in the dried plums and nuts.

Roll tablespoon size scoops of dough into balls with your hands. Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet and press down slightly on the balls to flatten the tops.  Bake for 8-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer cookies to a baking rack to cool completely.

Sarah’s Crispy Peanut Butter Treats (with chocolate chips!)

1 box brown rice crisps cereal
1 3/4 cups brown rice syrup
Pinch of fine sea salt
3/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter (preferably unsweetened and unsalted)
1/2 cup grain-sweetened, non-dairy chocolate or carob chips, or raisins (optional)

Pour the rice cereal into a large bowl. Heat the syrup with a pinch of salt in a saucepan over low heat.  When the rice syrup liquefies add the peanut butter and stir until well combined.  Pour over the rice cereal.  Mix well with a wooden spoon.

Once thoroughly mixed and cooled to room temp stir in the chocolate chips if using. Turn the mixture out into an 8x8 or 9x13 baking dish. Wet your wooden spoon lightly and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Let cool for an hour before cutting into squares or bars.

Moon Watch

Full Moon - October 8

New Moon - October 23

11 Days After New Moon - November 3

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

A Poem From Yogi Bhajan
Keep Up!

Har, Har, Har, Har, Meditate on the Name.

As the tears of God’s love come to your eyes,
The Path will be revealed,
And, you’ll see God

Keep Going!
Keep Up!
Keep Walking...

Sing the Nam!
The Music of the Spheres,
And keep on drinking
The Nectar Essence of God!
