Early Morning Sadhana
This Saturday - June 14

Early Morning Sadhana at KYL

with Shakta - 4:30 am to 7 am

4:30 am – Japji (meditative prayer)**
4:55 am – Kundalini Yoga Kriya (set of exercises)
5:50 am – Aquarian Sadhana Mantras*
6:55 am – Hukam*** and the Long Time Sunshine Song
7:00 am – Yogi Tea and light breakfast snacks! (bring something to share!)

Once each month we offer the experience of early morning sadhana at KYL. We begin at 4:30 am when the rays of the sun are hitting the earth at a 60 degree angle. Why get up at this time? Because this is the time when all of the great spiritual teachers appear to bless, elevate and transform each one of us. There is no charge for this special early morning sadhana.****

NOTE: The doors to the Fine Arts Building (FAB) open at 4:00 am. Please time your arrival for between 4:00 and 4:15 am. We begin sadhana at 4:30 am. The doors to the FAB are locked again at 4:30 am.

* Yogi Bhajan gave a specific sequence of mantras on June 21, 1992, with instructions to use them for morning sadhana in this particular order: 1) Long Ek Ong Kar, 2) Wah Yantee, Kah Yantee, 3) the Mul Mantra, 4) Sat Siree, Siree Akal, 5) Rakhe Rakhanahaar, 6) Wahe Guru Wahe Jio and 7) the Guru Ram Das chant.

** Japji is a prayer which relates the conscious mind to the soul. ‘Jap-’ is often translated as ‘song of’ and ‘-ji’ as ‘the soul.’ As a result, Japji is called ‘the song of the soul.’

*** A ‘hukam’ is the divine order of the day.

**** Sadhana (pronounced ‘sod nuh’) is, literally, ‘spiritual discipline;’ the early morning daily spiritual practice.
Celebrate the Masculine...
Father’s Day Class

Sunday, June 15th with Shakta Kaur
10:30 am to 12 noon

And, our delicious veggie potluck afterwards!
The bond between you and your father is very profound. You have known each other for a long, long time. In fact, you made a contract to be together in this relationship before the two of you came into the earth plane. Even after death--for either the father or the child--that relationship continues.

No matter what kind of relationship you have had with your father it is important to thank the soul that helped bring you here. The purpose of being on earth is to evolve your soul. In fact, that is the ‘sole’ purpose of your life! So, it is important to thank the soul that brought you into this world, to wish him well and to pray for him.

Join Shakta for a special Father’s Day Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class to celebrate all of our fathers on this Father’s Day. If your father is alive you can wish him the gift of health and longevity. If your father is deceased you can wish him the gift of peace for his soul. And, if your relationship with your father needs a bit of repair, you can infuse some harmony, burn some karma and help release bad feelings... on both sides! In return you will receive grace for honoring the man that bestowed the gift of life to you.

Sunday's class is always followed by community potluck - bring a vegetarian dish and enjoy the community spirit at KYL! Click Here to pre-register.
Healing Modality Workshop
Transcendent Healing through Sat Nam Rasayan

A Special Workshop with Hari Simran Singh Khalsa, D.C.
Saturday, June 14  - 2:00 - 4:00 pm
$20 advance / $25 door
register
What is Sat Nam Rasayan? To meditate on yourself first, and project yourself for the uplifting
healing of the other person. It’s a pure exchange of energy. You learn it.  You practice hours
and hours and hours. Some need 20 hours, some need 10 hours and some need only one hour to practice.

--Yogi Bhajan

Sat Nam Rasayan means ‘deep relaxation in the True Identity.'  It is an ancient healing art designed to serve humanity. Sat Nam Rasayan both enhances your awareness of your subtle body and expands the capacity of your meditative mind. It opens your compassionate awareness so you can be sensitized and present.

In a special 2-hour workshop with Dr. Yogi, aka Hari Simran Singh Khalsa, you can practice Sat Nam Rasayan with others in a safe and cozy environment at KYL. You will learn:
     --the nature of surrender,
--how to reach a state of pure meditative absorption and
--to open, stabilize and become aware of Sacred Space.

Hari Simran Singh is a faculty member at Life Chiropractic College West and the International Holistic Institute. He is also a Sat Nam Rasayan healer. Hari Simran Singh has studied and taught Kundalini Yoga and meditation for over 28 years. He is also a past Director of 3HO (the Happy, Healthy, Holy Organization). Click Here to pre-register.

Healing Power of Triple Gong & Mantra

with Shakta, Hari Dev, and Tej Karam

Friday June 20 - 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

$16 adv / $20 door
In June our popular session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong and Mantra’ celebrates the Summer Solstice! And, once again we feature not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste gongs! Recent Crystal Lake, Illinois, Teacher Training Graduate Tej Karam Singh joins Shakta and Hari Dev for this special evening.

As always, we begin every ‘gong and mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with all three Paiste symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness. As Yogi Bhajan once told us,

"On solstice days the energy is at the peak of its beauty. It should be very rhythmic for you if on solstice days you do more prayer, exercise more, and re-organize yourself more. It will pay you its dividend." --Yogi Bhajan

So, click here to pre-register and join us for the deep vibrational healing of 'Summer Solstice' gong and mantra.

Relax, Restore, and Rejuvenate

Come to KYL during June for a special series of classes at KYL designed to help you relax, restore and rejuvenate. One of the most beautiful actions we can take in our life is to relax. But, it takes a lot of wisdom and courage. Wisdom to realize that the One who rotates the earth can certainly take care of our routine. Courage to relax about our life, to relax about our work, to relax about our relationships. Simply ‘be.’ Trust it, believe it, so that everything can start happening for you!

Come to KYL all of June to release the tensions, restore your equilibrium and allow yourself to relax, restore and rejuvenate!

Tuesdays with Shakta

June 17 and July 8, 15, 22, 29 - 12:15 to 1:00 pm

Believe it or not, Shakta used to teach all of the lunch time classes at KYL ten years ago! At the time she decided on a 45-minute format for those who work in the city. Many can only take an hour or so for lunch. ‘There are plenty of kriyas and meditations that fit nicely into a 45-minute time slot,’ Shakta says!

So, come join Shakta on one of these Tuesdays to ‘relax, restore and rejuvenate’ before you head back to the office!

      Session 2 - April 24 to May 5, 2015 (arrive 4/23 depart 5/6)

If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it.” -- Yogi Bhajan

Registration is now open for a most unique learning experience on Canada’s beautiful Prince Edward Island (PEI). Shakta returns to PEI to lead a 220-hour Aquarian Teacher Level 1 Teacher Training course in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®.

12-Days TogetherTimes Two!   This amazing course is held in two 12-day sessions. The first session runs in the fall of 2014 and the second session in the spring of 2015. Conference calls are scheduled once each month during Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb. & March to keep us on-track with both our written homework and personal practice. And, the conference calls also keep us up-to-date with our fellow classmates as they share their experience of integrating the teachings of Yogi Bhajan into daily life.

Ashram Setting - One of the reasons this Level 1 Course is so unique is because both students and faculty live together at the Centre Goeland, a tranquil, comfortable and cozy retreat center located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. Vegetarian meals are prepared by the Centre’s professional staff. You’ll feel at home and at ease at the Centre Goeland. Plus, a tree-lined path leads to the beach which is just steps away and available for you to enjoy during breaks from class. The bonds you’ll create with fellow classmates after sharing Teacher Training in this calming, rejuvenating and natural setting will last a lifetime!

Feeling the Call - Some people take Level 1 Teacher Training because they feel the call to change their life. Some experience a huge lifestyle change and that experience is what calls them to Teacher Training. Some feel a call to be more authentic. Some feel a need to connect with like-minded people on a deeper level. Others simply want to spend time immersing themselves in the yogic teachings of a Master. Whatever your desire is to take this amazing course know that the end result will be perfect for you!

Sacred Science - Kundalini Yoga is called a ‘sacred science.’ This is because the sacredness of the student is awakened through it. Whether you’ve taken 1 or 101 yoga classes, the personal journey we call ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training’ is absolutely the next step.

A most remarkable experience begins this fall on Prince Edward Island. Come immerse yourself into the comprehensive science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. You’ll experience a clarity and neutrality of mind; a feeling of connection and vastness; a calmness and evenness in your life and more fulfillment as a human being... guaranteed!

Moon Watch
CURRENT MOON

Full Moon - June 12

New Moon - June 27

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
Half of your life's burdens will go away if you just forgive your earthly parents. Just remember, they are good and they did their best.
"
