 3 Gongs This Night!

Healing Power of Triple Gong & Mantra

with Shakta, Hari Dev, and Tej Karam

Friday May 23 - 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

$16 adv / $20 door
In May our popular session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong and Mantra’ features not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste gongs! Recent Crystal Lake, Illinois, Teacher Training Graduate Tej Karam Singh joins Shakta and Hari Dev for this special evening.

As always, we begin every ‘gong and mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with all three symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness. As Yogi Bhajan once told us,

‘When we speak with Guru’s words with our tongue, we are purified.’

So, click here to pre-register and join us for the deep vibrational healing of gong and mantra.

Walking is often the #1 recommended exercise for people of all ages and all ability levels. And, with ‘sitting’ becoming the new ‘smoking’ walking for better physical and mental health is becoming even more important than ever before.**

Breathwalk is a walking meditation practice derived from Kundalini Yoga. It combines yogic knowledge with western scientific methods. This combination is proven more effective than “just walking,” with many other added benefits including increased mental clarity, increased vitality, an elevation in mood levels and a greater sense of wellbeing and connectedness.

Breathwalk is a simple, yet profoundly effective mental and physical fitness program. It uses a variety of different breath patterns, timed with your footsteps, to effect a change in your mood and energy level. And, there are 20 different Breathwalks available to choose from!

Join Shakta for a rejuvenating, refreshing and simply remarkable weekend learning to use Breathwalk...  for your health and well-being... and to uplift the lives of many others.

Two levels of Breathwalk training are offered. Weekend #1 is designed as a personal intensive. You learn 5 Breathwalks with an Illustrated Guide for each, plus, you’ll receive the Breathwalk textbook. 'Sat Nam Rasayan' Healing with Hari Simran Singh Khalsa, D.C.
Private Appointments Available

25-minutes $95

Thursday June 12  (check availability)
Sat Nam Rasayan is the healing modality derived from the Kundalini Yoga tradition and literally means ‘deep relaxation in the true identity.’ It is an ancient healing art. Sat Nam Rasayan works on a subtle level through the projective meditative mind. It allows the healer to assess and balance the five elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth) and the pranic body.

A one-on-one Sat Nam Rasayan appointment with Hari Simran Singh Khalsa is a cozy yet inspiring experience. A typical session involves the client lying down near the practitioner. The practitioner may (or may not) place his fingers on your wrist or arm. The client breathes deeply and completely with closed eyelids as the practitioner becomes aware of the sensitive space and, ultimately, the Sacred Space that surrounds you. After a period of time the practitioner will ask you to sit up and he will share what he has learned along with his recommendations. A one-on-one Sat Nam Rasayan session is suggested for anyone interested in deeply learning about themselves and/or their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing capacity.

Dr. Yogi
Hari Simran Singh Khalsa, D.C., aka "Dr. Yogi," returns to KYL in June and has arranged time in his schedule to once again offer private Sat Nam Rasayan appointments. Born in Chicago, where he lived until the age of five, Hari Simran Singh has taught Kundalini Yoga and meditation for over 28 years, has directed Teacher Training programs in Berkeley and Santa Rosa, California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Kauai, Hawaii, and served on the Board of Directors of 3HO (Happy, Healthy, Holy Organization). Hari Simran Singh is a faculty member at Life Chiropractic College West and the International Holistic Institute and is also a Sat Nam Rasayan healer. He uses the gong in his clinical practice and has released two audio CDs of his playing Paiste Symphonic gongs.

Spirituality and Art:
The Creative and Visual Energy of Kundalini

a special workshop with Shakta Kaur
and Beatriz Ledesma, Ph.D.

Saturday - June 7
11 am to 1:00 pm
$30 pre-registration required

Come join Shakta and Beatriz for a unique opportunity to open up both your creative and spiritual channels. Using the technology of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® and the power of the mandala you will enhance and deepen the connection between your inner and outer worlds.

This workshop includes:

-- ‘light’ Kundalini Yoga to move & neutralize body tension
-- ‘deep’ meditation to access your inner creativity
-- ‘mandala’ creation to connect your inner and outer worlds
-- ‘From the Center’ a copy of Beatriz’ mandala art book (available for sale).

A mandala is a circular symbol representing wholeness, completeness, and unity. Throughout history, the mandala appears as the integrating symbol of self. In Tibetan Buddhism it is created as an artistic aid for meditation; the mandala becomes a visualization tool to advance practitioners toward a state of well-being and wisdom.

Dr. Beatriz Ledesma is a professional artist, educator, and psychotherapist. She earned her graduate degree in fine arts and art therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Successful as both an artist and clinical practitioner, Beatriz shines the light of her art into the passages of the psyche; both in her image-making and also using artworks-in-progress as part of psychotherapy sessions with clients. Beatriz’s studio is located in the Fine Arts Building--the home of KYL! She often works with Shakta Kaur on both individual and group projects.

Kundalini Teacher Training in Canada...
Level 1 Kundalini Teacher Training

Prince Edward Island, Canada

Two Sessions of 12-days

     Session 1 - Oct. 14 to Oct. 25, 2014 (arrive 10/13 depart 10/26)
      Session 2 - April 24 to May 5, 2015 (arrive 4/23 depart 5/6)

If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it.” -- Yogi Bhajan

Registration is now open for a most unique learning experience on Canada’s beautiful Prince Edward Island (PEI). Shakta returns to PEI to lead a 220-hour Aquarian Teacher Level 1 Teacher Training course in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®.

12-Days TogetherTimes Two!   This amazing course is held in two 12-day sessions. The first session runs in the fall of 2014 and the second session in the spring of 2015. Conference calls are scheduled once each month during Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb. & March to keep us on-track with both our written homework and personal practice. And, the conference calls also keep us up-to-date with our fellow classmates as they share their experience of integrating the teachings of Yogi Bhajan into daily life.

Ashram Setting - One of the reasons this Level 1 Course is so unique is because both students and faculty live together at the Centre Goeland, a tranquil, comfortable and cozy retreat center located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island. Vegetarian meals are prepared by the Centre’s professional staff. You’ll feel at home and at ease at the Centre Goeland. Plus, a tree-lined path leads to the beach which is just steps away and available for you to enjoy during breaks from class. The bonds you’ll create with fellow classmates after sharing Teacher Training in this calming, rejuvenating and natural setting will last a lifetime!

Feeling the Call - Some people take Level 1 Teacher Training because they feel the call to change their life. Some experience a huge lifestyle change and that experience is what calls them to Teacher Training. Some feel a call to be more authentic. Some feel a need to connect with like-minded people on a deeper level. Others simply want to spend time immersing themselves in the yogic teachings of a Master. Whatever your desire is to take this amazing course know that the end result will be perfect for you!

Sacred Science - Kundalini Yoga is called a ‘sacred science.’ This is because the sacredness of the student is awakened through it. Whether you’ve taken 1 or 101 yoga classes, the personal journey we call ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training’ is absolutely the next step.

A most remarkable experience begins this fall on Prince Edward Island. Come immerse yourself into the comprehensive science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. You’ll experience a clarity and neutrality of mind; a feeling of connection and vastness; a calmness and evenness in your life and more fulfillment as a human being... guaranteed!

Just For Fun
During a conversation (via Skype) with KRI's Director of Training Gurucharan Singh, Shakta reacted deeply to some issue, and Gurucharan took that moment to "snap" her expression.  He calls this "Kundalini Rising ish".
Moon Watch
CURRENT MOON

Full Moon - May 14

New Moon - May 28

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
Patience pays. When the karma of your previous incarnation will be cleansed out, and your courage is steady, then everything will start working for you without saying a thing. That is the state of life we must achieve.
"
