Friday November 1
- 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm -
All Saints Day!
|Bring a friend
and join us for one of our most popular monthly sessions
of the ‘Healing Power of Double Gong and Mantra!’ As
always, we begin every ‘gong and mantra’ session with
light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to
come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we
move into deep relaxation with not one, but two
beautiful Paiste symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no
defense to the gong after 90 seconds!
gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire
universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we
vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able
to tune into a different level of intelligence, or,

- Nov. 2 – Beat the Blues

Saturday, November 2nd -
Beat the Blues*. Everyone has experienced depression at one time or another. Someone who is depressed has feelings of sadness or anxiety that can last for weeks or months at a time. Depression is a very real condition for many millions of people around the globe. A difficult situation such as a natural disaster, the loss of a loved one or financial distress is enough to trigger a mild or even deep depression. Yogi Bhajan once said, ‘If you look at all the disease in the world, it is just depression.’
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) defines depression as a disorder which profoundly impairs the ability of a person to function in everyday situations by affecting thoughts, mood and physical well being (for a period of two weeks). The National Institute for Mental Health claims that depression strikes more American adults each year than cancer, AIDS or heart disease. In all of these situations yogis would say that the human body ‘cannot cope with the need of the time and circumstance.’
So, how can you or someone you love ‘beat the blues?’ Besides being a treatable medical condition there are other ways to alleviate symptoms of mild depression.
On this special call with Shakta you’ll learn how:
-- to help yourself if you feel depressed
-- the technology of sound or Naad can affect the body, mind and spirit
-- meditation as a daily tool can prevent and alleviate mild depression
-- to use bananas, dates and orange juice to create ‘Depression Buster Juice,’ plus
-- four yogic techniques to help you 'beat the blues.'
You’ll also learn
about KYL's two upcoming Kumdalini Yoga Teacher Training
courses (Chicago begins Jan. 2014/ Prince Edward Island, CN,
begins April 2014).
Teacher Training is an
earned destiny which ...
-- provides a direct, internal experience of yoga and meditation
-- orients your mind toward its proper role as your ‘servant’
-- stops the repetition of past errors and patterns
-- invokes your intuition, and
-- makes your life easier.

seek help immediately by calling 911, by visiting a nearby emergency department or health care provider’s office, or by talking to a trained counselor at the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255).
Infinite Pulse - Sunday with Shakta
‘The Infinite Pulse’
Sunday Morning Class
10:30 am to 12 noon
(with delicious Yogi Tea & veggie potluck afterwards!)
“When I call on my Infinity I can come through anything.” --Yogi Bhajan
Our beginning is spirit. Our end is spirit. In between we often forget that we are part of Infinity. When we do remember we feel a tenuous connection at best to All that is.
You might feel this connection as a longing to belong--a yearning to connect with something greater than yourself. Someone else grasps it every once-in-awhile through the breath and mantra. Often, however, with the busy-ness of daily life the promise of connection to this ‘Infinite Pulse seems just beyond our reach!
Fortunately, for us, we have a technical know-how through which we can join our individual consciousness with the consciousness that is All. This realization is not bound by time and space. And, it is not achieved in linear stages. Only when we become still do we establish ourself in relationship with the Infinite.
Come to class with Shakta Sunday (and all KYL classes in Nov.
& Dec.) to:
-- calm the mind and recognize what is important to you
--transcend and transform any subconscious habits of self-belittlement
-- gain energy to deal with the mental and spiritual facets of your life
-- use the breath to connect with the your highest and best self
-- hear, see and feel the interconnection of all things
-- understand better your relationship with the Infinite Pulse
-- with the spirit in you.

Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training

January to August 2014
Less Than 90
“If you become your own teacher, prosperity will be there. Good things and good ideas will come to you.” --Yogi Bhajan
Unbelievable to think that Teacher Training at KYL begins in less than 90 days! Is January that close already?! Yes, it is all true! And, when you pre-register with your down-payment before November 17th you secure the lowest possible tuition rate. (On Nov. 18th the tuition rate increases!) We begin Teacher Training at KYL January 17 and end August 17, 2014. This course is always such a beautiful personal journey of growth, challenge, transformation and upliftment!
Why Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training?
Kundalini means ‘awareness.’ Awareness is the active interaction of you as a finite individual identity with you as an Infinite potential identity! This dormant energy of awareness is in you. And, Kundalini Yoga is the supreme technology to take you to your Original, Best and Highest Self!
Drop Frustrating Patterns.
As you move through the Teacher Training course you will grow. Like a snake you will shed old skins to become more of who you really are. You will learn to examine your attitudes, behaviors and emotional habits. All your frustrating ‘demoting’ habits will come to the surface to be acknowledged, blessed and sent on their way! You will gain new perspectives and capacities. You will develop ‘promoting’ habits to support your expanded awareness.
The Number ‘8’
KYL’s Chicago course is 8 weekends over 8 months.
The number ‘8’ is quite significant. It has many different properties and meanings all over the world.
--In China the number ‘8’ represents the totality of the universe.
--Eight was the number of balance and the cosmic order according to the Egyptians.
--The Greeks taught that there were eight divisions of the sky.
--In Hebrew the number 8 is Sh’moneh meaning ‘super abundance.’
--There are 8 arms of Vishnu and 8 forms of Shiva.
--Sage Patanjali codified the teachings of yoga that we know today as the ‘8 Limbs of Yoga.’
--The ‘Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi’ (‘Lord, make me an instrument of peace’...) contains 8 requests.
--And, in mathematics the symbol of Infinity is represented by the number ‘8’ laid down--the ‘Infinity Loop.’
In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan there are 8 Chakras or energy centers of the body. Seven Chakras correspond with the physical body and the 8th Chakra is the aura. The aura is both your protection and your projection. In Teacher Training you’ll learn how to augment your aura, attract positivity and repel negativity!
The number 8 in Kundalini Yoga is also associated with the Pranic Body. Prana is the life force that you breathe in on the air. It continuously brings energy into your system. The Pranic Body allows you to feel fearless, fully alive and at one with creation. In Teacher Training you learn to renew your energy and tap into your self-motivation so that you have more than enough vitality to enjoy life and achieve your goals!
The techniques that you learn during this 8 month course form an ‘owner’s manual’ for human consciousness. Everyone needs a technical know-how to get the best from the body, mind and spirit. That technical know-how is called ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.’
Through your own practice and discipline you will go beyond mere intellectual knowledge. You experience with your own heart and being your Original, Best and Highest Self. That is how, as Yogi Bhajan says, all ‘good things and good ideas will come to you!’

New Moon - November 3
11 Days After - November 14
Full Moon - November 17
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
God give us the touch of infinity where we have to ultimately merge. And create in this body the surge to achieve purity and piety. Give us longing to belong to all our higher self and give us the guidance so that Mother Earth and Heavenly Father keep us in the abode of peace and tranquility.
