KYL's 10th Anniversary
October Theme... The Power of 10
Sunday, Oct. 6
||Yogi Bhajan Remembrance Day
Saturday, Oct. 12
||Yoga Dance Party
Sunday, Oct. 27
The number 10 in Kundalini Yoga is the dynamic ‘all or nothing’ number! And, the number ‘10’ is our focus during the month of October because this is the month that KYL celebrates its 10 year anniversary in The Fine Arts Building!
All classes during October focus on the 10th Body also known as the Radiant Body. The Radiant Body is just one of your ten bodies.* It represents your spiritual royalty and strength. Your 10th Body makes you courageous in the face of any obstacle. You exert a magnetic presence and command the respect of all who know you. And, you maintain that victorious spirit in spite of what may be occurring outside of you!
Come celebrate with KYL during October to...
-- recognize your inner nobility
-- enhance your radiance and royal courage
-- develop your stamina and energy plus
-- increase your ability to come through in all situations!
* The 10 Bodies are the yogic description of what the perfected human being looks like and acts like. The 10 Bodies are the Soul Body, Negative Mind, Positive Mind, Neutral Mind, Physical Body, Arcline, Aura, Pranic Body, Subtle Body and Radiant Body. The 10 Bodies
form a technical break-down of how the different parts of the psyche--the 10 bodies--work.
|Yogi Bhajan Remembrance Day
- Class with Shakta -10:30 am to 12
noon - Sunday, Oct. 6 - (with veggie potluck after!)
‘Let no one weep for me after I am gone. That would not please me at all. When a friend receives a robe of honor, then his friends are pleased with his honor.’ -- Guru Arjan Dev, Siri Guru Granth
Sahib, page 923
It is on this day that we remember the passing of Yogi Bhajan, the Master of Kundalini Yoga and the Mahan Tantric. Shakta Kaur remembers that day very well. She was teaching class at a book store in Chicago on the evening that Yogi Bhajan transitioned from the earth plane. She arrived home later that night to receive a phone message from a friend in Canada who relayed the news.
Before leaving the physical plane, Yogi Bhajan requested that his death be a time of celebrating his going home. So, during the 17 days after his death--a traditional time of memorial for Sikhs--and until his Memorial Service in Espanola, New Mexico, the Kundalini Yoga community came together and chanted, prayed, talked and ate meals together.
If you never had the opportunity to be in the physical presence of Yogi Bhajan know that you experience the touch of him as the Master of Kundalini Yoga through the teachings—the kriyas and meditations--which he so selflessly gave. As a result, you begin to exemplify the qualities he taught us to make our own--dignity, divinity, grace, commitment, courage, kindness, compassion, wisdom and understanding. These are the qualities of a Sensory Human--qualities that are much needed as we continue to make our way through this time of transition into the Aquarian Age.
That is the lineage of which you are a part. And, on Sunday, October 6th, come to class with Shakta and remember the man--Yogi Bhajan--who brought this technology to us as an inheritance direct from the soul, direct from Infinity, delivered through the Golden Chain, to you.

|FREE Mantra Chanting
(31 Minutes) - 1:00 to 1:35 pm - Sunday October 6
Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru
“I was told in my childhood that if you recite the mantra Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru 11 times a day, a miracle will happen to protect you. Many times in my life I had those miracles happening to me. It can create miraculous situations and environments around you to take you out of any problem on the planet.” --Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini Yogis worldwide begin a daily sadhana of chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru 11 days prior to the birthday of Guru Ram Das. It is a beautiful, cozy practice often done in the homes of yogis with a lovely meal afterwards.
Come have the experience of chanting the shabd* Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 31-minutes on Sunday afternoon, October 6th. You may have financial worries. You may have relationship problems. You may be confused at the next step to take. But, you have the power within you to change your circumstances and manifest nothing but the best.
That’s because the sound current of Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru can help you manifest anything! Miracles often surround the person that chants this mantra. And, if you learn to chant it by heart, miraculous events can come into your life ... on the spot!
There is no charge for this event.
* Shabd – ‘Sha-‘ means ‘to cut’ and ‘-bd’ means the ‘ego.’ So, a shabd is a sound current which cuts through the ego.
|FREE Early Morning Sadhana -
Celebrate the Birthday of Guru Ram Das -
4:30 am to 7:45 am - Wednesday October 9
"Whatever you ask of Guru Ram Das on his birthday, he must deliver." -Yogi Bhajan
4:30 am – Japji Sahib
4:55 am – Warm-Ups
5:10 am – Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru*
7:45 am – Hukam and Breakfast Snacks.**
(Doors open at 4 am; doors lock at 4:30 am.***)
When Shakta opened the doors to KYL in October of 2003, the first class she taught was on Guru Ram Das’ birthday. Guru Ram Das was the 4th of the Sikh Gurus and Yogi Bhajan’s teacher on the astral plane. Was that merely circumstantial, or, was it serendipity? We think it was destiny!
Shakta chanted Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru* by herself for 2.5 hours that morning. Every year since then, we chant 2.5 hours of Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru together at KYL on Guru Ram Das’ birthday.
Be sure to make a special effort to join us on Wednesday morning, October 9, because Guru Ram Das is known as the Lord of Miracles.
When you join with others to praise the realm of Guru Ram Das on his birthday you will be brought directly into the realm of the heart.
You will access the neutral, meditative mind. Any and all issues, commotions and worries will suddenly clear. You will feel content, safe and secure.
There is no charge for this event.
* Effect of the mantra Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru: When life seems stuck, you praise the domain of Guru Ram Das, the realm of the heart and of the Neutral Mind where all things become pure. This mantra reaches the realm of miracles. Ask for a miracle and then watch the impossible become possible!
** Hukam-the divine order of the day.
*** If you don’t arrive at KYL by 4:30 am come any time after 7:00 am when the Fine Arts Building opens to the general public. Join in and chant with us for the last 40 minutes or so. You’ll definitely reap the benefits!

|Ten Years to-the-day Class
with Shakta Kaur
Sunday, Oct. 13 -
10:30 am to 12 noon
($18 door / $16 advance - and delicious veggie potluck afterwards!)
Come join Shakta for a ’10 Years to-the-day Class’
where you will focus on the strength of your Radiant Body. The Radiant Body is a little band that sits on top of your aura. It enables you to act courageously which means acting even though you are afraid.
Yogi Bhajan called the Radiant Body ‘one plus.’ It’s one--the soul body--plus your radiance. The 10th Body is a state where there are no blocks to exhibiting your soulful self externally. You recognize and realize your magnificence and you want to show it to others. You realize, however, that whatever flows through you is, when all is said and done, the creator’s radiance, not yours.
Shakta will guide you through a kriya to stimulate the body and mind so that you can easily tap into the Infinite’s intention for your incarnation. You’ll move, relax and dance each molecule to remind
yourself to always trust in your Best, Original and Highest

What do you fear? The #1 fear of most Americans is the fear of public speaking. Other common fears include the fear of taking an exam, the fear of change, enclosed spaces, heights, spiders, snakes, ghosts and growing old. Most everyone has some fear of death. Fear comes in degrees from mild caution to extreme phobias and paranoia.
While a good dose of fear is often necessary for personal safety sometimes at a very early age fear becomes part of our subconscious. As adults we may show this unconscious fear as fear of loss, separation, abandonment or feelings of helplessness. Other times fear might show itself in feelings of not really being sure of ourselves. Fear clouds our judgment and engages not only the mind, but the body, too.
There are ways to eliminate and take fear out of your life—once and for all. Join Shakta on this conference call as she shares:
• a powerful yogic tool that can help you release fears,
• a meditation that uses a sound which means ‘to protect and sustain the self,’
• how the fear of change can be overcome, plus,
• information about the Chicago, Illinois, USA, and Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, Teacher Training courses!

Teacher Training Registration Now Open at KYL
Registration is Now Open!
Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training
8 Weekends Over 8 Months -
January to August 2014
“If you become your own teacher, prosperity will be there. Good things and good ideas will come to you.” --Yogi Bhajan
Registration is now open for KYL’s 13th Level 1 Course
- the Aquarian Teacher, Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. We begin
on January 17 and end on August 17, 2014. Teacher Training at KYL is always a beautiful personal journey of growth, challenge, transformation and upliftment!
Why Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training?
Kundalini means ‘awareness.’ Awareness is the active interaction of you as a finite individual identity with you as an Infinite potential identity! This dormant energy of awareness is in you. And, Kundalini Yoga is the supreme technology to take you to your Original, Best and Highest Self!
Drop Frustrating Patterns.
As you move through the Teacher Training course you will grow. Like a snake you will shed old skins to become more of who you really are. You will learn to examine your attitudes, behaviors and emotional habits. All your frustrating ‘demoting’ habits will come to the surface to be acknowledged, blessed and sent on their way! You will gain new perspectives and capacities. You will develop ‘promoting’ habits to support your expanded awareness.
The Number ‘8’
KYL’s Chicago course is 8 weekends over 8 months.
The number ‘8’ is quite significant. It has many different properties and meanings all over the world.
--In China the number ‘8’ represents the totality of the universe.
--Eight was the number of balance and the cosmic order according to the Egyptians.
--The Greeks taught that there were eight divisions of the sky.
--In Hebrew the number 8 is Sh’moneh meaning ‘super abundance.’
--There are 8 arms of Vishnu and 8 forms of Shiva.
--Sage Patanjali codified the teachings of yoga that we know today as the ‘8 Limbs of Yoga.’
--The ‘Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi’ (‘Lord, make me an instrument of peace’...) contains 8 requests.
--And, in mathematics the symbol of Infinity is represented by the number ‘8’ laid down--the ‘Infinity Loop.’
In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan there are 8 Chakras or energy centers of the body. Seven Chakras correspond with the physical body and the 8th Chakra is the aura. The aura is both your protection and your projection. In Teacher Training you’ll learn how to augment your aura, attract positivity and repel negativity!
The number 8 in Kundalini Yoga is also associated with the Pranic Body. Prana is the life force that you breathe in on the air. It continuously brings energy into your system. The Pranic Body allows you to feel fearless, fully alive and at one with creation. In Teacher Training you learn to renew your energy and tap into your self-motivation so that you have more than enough vitality to enjoy life and achieve your goals!
The techniques that you learn during this 8 month course form an ‘owner’s manual’ for human consciousness. Everyone needs a technical know-how to get the best from the body, mind and spirit. That technical know-how is called ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.’
Through your own practice and discipline you will go beyond mere intellectual knowledge. You experience with your own heart and being your Original, Best and Highest Self. That is how, as Yogi Bhajan says, all ‘good things and good ideas will come to you!’

New Moon - October 4
11 Days After - October 15
Full Moon - October 18
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
You have not understood me. Projectivity is the essence of your radiance. It’s a light. Your body, this physical body does not create an impression. You are foolish. The impression you make is the radiance of your body. If you take a candle, give it to somebody, what is he going to do with it? Nothing. If the candle is not lit, it’s just wax. The beauty of the candle is when it is lit. The beauty is when it spreads light and removes the darkness.
