Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training
8 Weekends Over 8 Months -
January to August 2014
“If you become your own teacher, prosperity will be there. Good things and good ideas will come to you.” --Yogi Bhajan
Registration is now open for KYL’s 13th Level 1 Course
- the Aquarian Teacher, Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. We begin
on January 17 and end on August 17, 2014. Teacher Training at KYL is always a beautiful personal journey of growth, challenge, transformation and upliftment!
Why Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training?
Kundalini means ‘awareness.’ Awareness is the active interaction of you as a finite individual identity with you as an Infinite potential identity! This dormant energy of awareness is in you. And, Kundalini Yoga is the supreme technology to take you to your Original, Best and Highest Self!
Drop Frustrating Patterns.
As you move through the Teacher Training course you will grow. Like a snake you will shed old skins to become more of who you really are. You will learn to examine your attitudes, behaviors and emotional habits. All your frustrating ‘demoting’ habits will come to the surface to be acknowledged, blessed and sent on their way! You will gain new perspectives and capacities. You will develop ‘promoting’ habits to support your expanded awareness.
The Number ‘8’
KYL’s Chicago course is 8 weekends over 8 months.
The number ‘8’ is quite significant. It has many different properties and meanings all over the world.
--In China the number ‘8’ represents the totality of the universe.
--Eight was the number of balance and the cosmic order according to the Egyptians.
--The Greeks taught that there were eight divisions of the sky.
--In Hebrew the number 8 is Sh’moneh meaning ‘super abundance.’
--There are 8 arms of Vishnu and 8 forms of Shiva.
--Sage Patanjali codified the teachings of yoga that we know today as the ‘8 Limbs of Yoga.’
--The ‘Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi’ (‘Lord, make me an instrument of peace’...) contains 8 requests.
--And, in mathematics the symbol of Infinity is represented by the number ‘8’ laid down--the ‘Infinity Loop.’
In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan there are 8 Chakras or energy centers of the body. Seven Chakras correspond with the physical body and the 8th Chakra is the aura. The aura is both your protection and your projection. In Teacher Training you’ll learn how to augment your aura, attract positivity and repel negativity!
The number 8 in Kundalini Yoga is also associated with the Pranic Body. Prana is the life force that you breathe in on the air. It continuously brings energy into your system. The Pranic Body allows you to feel fearless, fully alive and at one with creation. In Teacher Training you learn to renew your energy and tap into your self-motivation so that you have more than enough vitality to enjoy life and achieve your goals!
The techniques that you learn during this 8 month course form an ‘owner’s manual’ for human consciousness. Everyone needs a technical know-how to get the best from the body, mind and spirit. That technical know-how is called ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.’
Through your own practice and discipline you will go beyond mere intellectual knowledge. You experience with your own heart and being your Original, Best and Highest Self. That is how, as Yogi Bhajan says, all ‘good things and good ideas will come to you!’
Tuition: $3,200 (until
11/16/2013) - $500 down - Payment Plans Available ($3,400

40-day sadhana on Yogi Bhajan’s birthday, Monday, August
Long Ek Ong Kar is the cornerstone
of early morning group practice and is often called
simply, Long Chant. It is also referred to as ‘Morning
Call.’ It initiates the Kundalini, initiating the
relationship between the soul and the Universal Soul
while balancing all the chakras.
The meaning of
‘Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru,’ is: ‘One Creator
created this Creation. Truth is His Name. Great beyond
description is His infinite wisdom.’
said about this mantra,
‘In the time period two-and-a-half hours before
the rising of the Sun, when the channels of energy
are most clear, if the Mantra is sung in sweet
harmony, you will be one with the Lord. This will
open the solar plexus, which in turn will charge the
solar centers. The person will get connected with
the Cosmic Energy, and thus will be liberated from
the cycle of time and karma.’
Shakta's sadhana follows this schedule:
4:00 am – Japji **
4:15 am -
4:30 am - Long Ek Ong
7:00 am - Daily Hukam
* July 18 is Hari Dev
Singh and Shakta Kaur’s wedding anniversary!

wedding ceremony nine years ago officiated by KRI’s CEO

** Japji is a prayer which
relates the conscious mind to the soul. ‘Jap-’ is often
translated as ‘song of’ and ‘-ji’ as ‘the soul.’ As a
result, Japji is called ‘the song of the soul.’
A ‘hukam’ is the divine order of the day.

Kundalini Yoga & Meditation
precious thing you have as a human being is your own
grace. The only real difference between people is in
their degree of grace. Your real power—your spiritual
power—is in your grace.
“What is Grace? Grace is the shield of radiation
or radiant shield which protects the pranic balance
in your entire living system, not only with you, and
within you, and within your psyche, but how you
correlate to all other psyches in your communication
of memory. All who have gone before you, all who
have to follow you. Do you understand what grace is
now? The trust that others place in you, is your
grace. The word you give to others is grace.
Expectation of you being who you are is grace. It is
a sum total of your personality, reflected by you.
It is your radiant body.” — Yogi Bhajan
Come to KYL and learn to:
-- be grateful for
consciousness and existence (because accepting is grace)
-- develop the grace of the meditative mind
-- not lose your grace, no matter what
stand any disgrace with grace and
-- serve your
grace, not your ego.

Guru Ram Das Chant
August 15 through August 25
Guru Guru Wahay Guru
August 15th, all classes at KYL will feature a special
mantra meditation called the Guru Ram Das
Chant. We traditionally begin chanting
this mantra 11 days prior to Yogi Bhajan’s
birthday (Aug. 26th). Guru Ram Das was the 4th
of the Sikh Guru Saints, a great teacher and master of
Kundalini Yoga of 16th century India known for his
humility and compassion.
Yogi Bhajan considered
Guru Ram Das his teacher on the astral plane. It is by
the grace of Guru Ram Das that we are able to practice
the technology of Kundalini Yoga.
This mantra has two parts, Nirgun and Sirgun. The
first part, “Guru Guru Wahay Guru,” is a Nirgun
mantra which vibrates only to Infinity. It has
no finite qualities. It is the unknown. It projects the
mind outwards to the source of all knowledge and
The second part, “Guru Ram Das Guru,”
is a Sirgun mantra. This relates to the
manifest energy or form and means, “the wisdom that
comes as a servant of Infinity.” In combination, the
parts of the mantra project the mind to Infinity and
allow the guiding faculty to come into your practical
This meditation invokes the
protective energy of Guru Ram Das. It can rescue you in
times of trouble. It projects the mind to Infinity then
allows guidance to come into your finite, daily
activities. If you ever need a miracle, this is the
mantra to chant!
Come to class at KYL between
August 15th and 25th and watch as miracles both small
and large manifest in your life!

Come honor the life and
legacy of the Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, the
man who brought the teachings of Kundalini Yoga and
Meditation to the west in 1968. Before then, these
teachings were considered a secret science. Yogi
Bhajan’s fundamental belief was that happiness was the
birthright of every person. He spent his entire life
teaching people how they could live to their highest
Once each year, on Yogi Bhajan’s
birthday, the entire worldwide community of Kundalini
Yogis gathers for a simultaneous synchronized chanting
of two mantras. One of them, Long Ek Ong Kar, we chant
for 2.5 hours.
Yogi Bhajan once said that
whenever you chant Long Ek Ong Kar for 2.5 hours on his
birthday that you would receive the answers to your

practice of chanting 2.5 hours of Long Ek Ong Kar on the
day of Yogi Bhajan’s birthday. Come be uplifted in the
celebration of the life of one individual who has
changed the lives of tens of thousands of people all
around the world!
* Japji Sahib – A prayer
written by Guru Nanak, the 1st of the Sikh Gurus, which
relates the conscious mind to the soul. It is a
technology of progression that clears all the chakras.
** The syllables are Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe
Guru. This was the only mantra meditation that Yogi
Bhajan taught during his first year in the United
States. The syllables mean, “The creator and all
creation are one. This is our true identity. The ecstasy
of this wisdom is Great beyond words.”
*** Hukam –
The order of the day.
Full Moon - August 20
New Moon - September 5
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
The purpose of marriage is: what is not my grace, she should bring it to me. What is
not her grace, I should bring it to her. If I care, she will care. If I love, she will love. Positive and negative bring the light. It is the extension of your polarity which brings the result.
