Breathwalk Experience
FREE!  Breathwalk®

Sunday, Dec. 2 - 1:00 to 2:30 pm

The Fine Arts Building Lobby
410 S. Michigan Ave.
(Meet in front of the FAB elevators!)

If you like to walk you can Breathwalk!
You are cordially invited to a ‘free’ community Breathwalk class on Sunday, December 1, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Nine talented Breathwalk Instructor Trainees will provide a free walking meditation class for you, your friends and family that afternoon. So grab your best of friends and bring them along!

Many spiritual traditions use walking as a meditation to calm the mind, connect to nature and for healing. Breathwalk is derived from the Kundalini Yoga tradition. Breathwalk is different from other walking meditations because it uses conscious breathing synchronized with walking, mantra and meditation--all at the same time! Combining these elements makes the overall impact of your walk greater and the results even more effective.

You’ll increase your energy level and open your senses. You’ll feel elevated yet meditative! Plus, you’ll leave with a closer connection to the vitality that is your birthright! It will be lots of fun for everyone!

There is no charge for Breathwalk at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Wear appropriate outdoor clothing and good walking shoes. If you like to walk you can Breathwalk! All levels welcome.
Winter Solstice Event
Winter Solstice Double Gong & Mantra

with Hari Dev Singh and Friends!
Friday, December 21 - 6:30 to 8:00 pm

(This class will still occur even if the end of the world happens earlier!)

Please pre-register for this event.
Join Hari Dev Singh and friends to celebrate the time when darkness rules — Winter Solstice! This is the time of year the ancients considered the ‘gateway to God.' The gods of the ancient Babylonians, Egyptians and Greeks were all born at this, the darkest time of the year, to bring light.

And, on this transitional Winter Solstice you’ll expand beyond your imaginings to illuminate the divine light within!

Come use this moment in the quiet cycle of life—winter—to deepen your intentions. And, when you come to KYL to celebrate the Winter Solstice on Friday, Dec. 21 bring your written intention with you.

Begin by writing:
1) What you want to leave behind in 2012,
2) What you want to bring forward for you personally in 2013, and
3) What you want to bring forward for the world in 2013.

Bring your written intention to KYL, drop it in our special bowl and know that your intentions will manifest.

Please pre-register for this event.
Click Here to pre-register ($16).  No walk-ins please.

KYL's December Theme...

Yoga to Tap Into Your Knowledge & Wisdom

December at KYL
Ensure your Happiness, Success and Excellence!
In the past, great knowledge about human potential was guarded by secrecy and layers of initiations. You had to be born into a particular family or have a particular destiny to learn the sacred science of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Those days are gone forever thanks to Yogi Bhajan’s teaching the thousands of meditations and kriyas that he brought to the west beginning in 1968.

During the month of December, every class at KYL features meditations and kriyas designed for you to tap into your own inner knowledge and wisdom. You’ll not only remove fears, you’ll remove self-imposed limitation while broadening your focus at the same time. Expect resources, facts and opportunities to appear to substantiate your vision.

If you’ve become a little too limited, narrow or, simply afraid, come to KYL and tap into your inner knowledge and wisdom that is sometimes difficult to access on your own. You’ll find that touch of Infinite knowledge within—your intuition. And, you’ll go deep within to rest your mind, reset your behavior and remember that you incarnated to experience happiness, success and excellence!

Namleen’s journey with Kundalini Yoga began in 2010. She completed Teacher Training at KYL in 2011. She has experienced both Summer Solstice in Espanola, New Mexico, and Winter Solstice, in Lake Wales, Florida. Her practice has been expanding and deepening ever since!

“The teachings of Yogi Bhajan have transformed my life completely," Namleen said, "And, I feel I am kept up all day, every day, with my daily practice." Join Namleen for an uplifting and totally sattvic* class on Tuesdays at KYL (12:15 to 1:00 pm). Just drop-in or pre-register here.
* Sattvic – One of the three conditions of matter--subtle, sublime, clear & neutral.

Travel with Shakta and Hari Dev this February for an extraordinary visit to India. This is our 4th tour of India and this time we include a few days to experience the largest spiritual celebration in the world
The Kumbha Mela

For all spiritual seekers, travel to India has a special appeal. The very land is steeped in spirituality where many ancient practices useful today were developed and perfected over 5,000 years ago. Simply walking the land can leave a profound and lasting imprint on your soul.

Join Shakta and Hari Dev as they lead another yatra to India where you will enjoy safe food, excellent lodging and the guidance of experienced local staff every step-of-the-way. This is a special year to visit India as the Kumbha Mela is taking place in Allahabad. The ‘Kumbh’ is a mass pilgrimage at which Hindus gather at the Mother Ganges to bathe for purification and removal of karma.

In addition, the 4th International Punarnava Ayurveda & Yoga Conference is scheduled for Feb. 17-18 in Allahabad in the midst of the Kumbh Mela. And, Shakta Kaur has been asked to teach once again at the Conference! So, your tour to India includes admission to all of the Conference sessions as well!

Highlights of our yatra include the following (view itinerary):

Moon Watch

Full Moon - November 28

New Moon - December 13

11 Days After - December 24

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

    "Vitality and Stress"
A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
We are accustomed to wisdom that is expressed in words. Kundalini Yoga is expressed through the medium of action. It can only speak to you, if you do it.
