Just Scheduled! Visit India with Shakta and Hari Dev
Feb 12 to 27, 2013
Travel with Shakta and Hari Dev this February for an
extraordinary visit to India. This is our 4th tour of India
and this time we include a few
days to experience the largest spiritual celebration in the
The Kumbha Mela.
For all spiritual seekers, travel to India has a special appeal. The very land is steeped in spirituality where many ancient practices useful today were developed and perfected over 5,000 years ago. Simply walking the land can leave a profound and lasting imprint on your soul.
Join Shakta and Hari Dev as they lead another yatra to India where you will enjoy safe food, excellent lodging and the guidance of experienced local staff every step-of-the-way. This is a special year to visit India as the Kumbha Mela is taking place in Allahabad. The ‘Kumbh’ is a mass pilgrimage at which Hindus gather at the Mother Ganges to bathe for purification and removal of karma.
In addition, the 4th International Punarnava Ayurveda & Yoga Conference is scheduled for Feb. 17-18 in Allahabad in the midst of the Kumbh Mela. And, Shakta Kaur has been asked to teach once again at the Conference! So, your tour to India includes admission to all of the Conference sessions as well!
Highlights of our yatra include the following
- Kumbha Mela in Allahabad (video)
- 2-Day ‘Punarnava Ayurveda & Yoga Conference’ in Allahabad (details)
- Early morning boat ride on the Ganges River in Varanasi (video)

Early Morning Sadhana
This Sunday -
Early Morning Sadhana at KYL
Shakta - 4:30 am to 7 am
4:30 am – Japji (meditative prayer)**
Once each month we offer the experience of Sunday early morning sadhana at KYL. We begin at 4:30 am when the rays of the sun are hitting the earth at a 60 degree angle. Why get up at this time? Because this is the time when all of the great spiritual teachers appear to bless, elevate and transform each one of us.
There is no charge for this special early morning sadhana.****
4:55 am – Kundalini Yoga Kriya (set of exercises)
5:50 am – Aquarian Sadhana Mantras*
6:55 am – Hukam*** and the Long Time Sunshine Song
7:00 am – Yogi Tea and light breakfast snacks! (bring something to share!)
NOTE: The doors to the Fine Arts Building (FAB) open at 4:00 am. Please time your arrival for between 4:00 and 4:15 am. We begin sadhana at 4:30 am. The doors to the FAB are locked again at 4:30 am.
* Yogi Bhajan gave a specific sequence of mantras on June 21, 2992, with instructions to use them for morning sadhana in this particular order: 1) Long Ek Ong Kar, 2) Wah Yantee, Kah Yantee, 3) the Mul Mantra, 4) Sat Siree, Siree Akal, 5) Rakhe Rakhanahaar, 6) Wahe Guru Wahe Jio and 7) the Guru Ram Das chant.
** Japji is a prayer which relates the conscious mind to the soul. ‘Jap-’ is often translated as ‘song of’ and ‘-ji’ as ‘the soul.’ As a result, Japji is called ‘the song of the soul.’
*** A ‘hukam’ is the divine order of the day.
**** Sadhana (pronounced ‘sod nuh’) is, literally, ‘spiritual discipline;’ the early morning daily spiritual practice.

Healing Power of Double Gong & Mantra
with Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev Singh
The Day After Thanksgiving
Friday, November 23
6:30 to 8:00 pm
(Also on Dec 21)
Bring a friend and join us for one of our popular monthly
sessions of gong and mantra! As always, we begin every ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, but, two beautiful Paiste symphonic gongs.
Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!
After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the
entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we
vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune
into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness.

Saturdays with Shakta...
Clean the House! Cleanse your Being!
Saturday Classes with Shakta
Nov. 17 & 24
10:30 am to 12 noon
(Plus Yogi Bhajan via DVD, Nov. 17)
Housecleaning is simple--turn on the vacuum, dust the shelves, wash the floors and windows—right? Well, yes and no!
As you clean and prepare your house for the upcoming holidays it is just as important to clean your subconscious mind--the realm of dreams and memories, the seat of fears and negative habits--of the
"dust bunnies" that persist there, too!
Saturday mornings in November Shakta will help you ‘Clean the House and Cleanse Your Being!’ You will cleanse hidden miseries and fears while removing old emotional impulses and commotional behaviors. You will change the brain’s energy so that your life has an immediate intuitive answer. You’ll feel such lightness, clarity and delight afterwards that you’ll wonder why you never got around to cleaning yourself out sooner!

Yoga to Tap Into Your Knowledge & Wisdom
November & December at KYL
Ensure your Happiness, Success and Excellence!
In the past, great knowledge about human potential was guarded by secrecy and layers of initiations. You had to be born into a particular family or have a particular destiny to learn the sacred science of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Those days are gone forever thanks to Yogi Bhajan’s teaching the thousands of meditations and kriyas that he brought to the west beginning in 1968.
During the months of November and December, every class at KYL features meditations and kriyas designed for you to tap into your own inner knowledge and wisdom. You’ll not only remove fears, you’ll remove self-imposed limitation while broadening your focus at the same time. Expect resources, facts and opportunities to appear to substantiate your vision.
If you’ve become a little too limited, narrow or, simply afraid, come to KYL and tap into your inner knowledge and wisdom that is sometimes difficult to access on your own. You’ll find that touch of Infinite knowledge within—your intuition. And, you’ll go deep within to rest your mind, reset your behavior and remember that you incarnated to experience happiness, success and excellence!

Food For The Gods
New Moon - Nov. 13
11 Days After - Nov. 24
Full Moon - Nov. 28
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
($13) - not on Friday
(After Sunday's class join us for a vegetarian potluck.)

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
To know wisdom is nothing. To experience wisdom becomes knowledge. Then you can stand through the times.
