Farewell Amarbir Kaur!
Join Amarbir Kaur for her last KYL class this Saturday!
KYL has been happy to have had the graceful presence of Amarbir Kaur Bourne teaching our Saturday morning class for the past two years. But, big plans on the horizon are pulling our courageous Amarbir Kaur away from KYL.
‘Amarbir Kaur’ means the princess who is eternally brave. ‘Amar’ means undying, continuous, beyond time, endless, everlasting, immortal and enduring. ‘Bir’ means brave and courageous. ‘Kaur’ means the Princess/Lioness of God who walks with grace and power throughout her life.
While we will all miss her at KYL we also know that we will see her often at upcoming Kundalini events. Many congratulations, Amarbir Kaur! May God and Guru continue to love and bless you!

Remembering and Honoring America’s Veterans
Change — the newest music from Gurunam Singh!

(with delicious veggie potluck afterward)
On the left is a picture of Shakta's father, Antone Kezios, a Marine Drill Sergeant.
Join Shakta this Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend as we remember and honor America’s veterans. For some
people this time of year just means an extra day off from work, an outdoor barbecue and the ‘official’ start of the summer holiday season. But this is, first and foremost, the time of year originally designated as one of reflection and meditation on the sacrifices made by Americans in combat. It is because of their sacrifices that we are able to enjoy and express our personal freedoms today.
So, come to class with Shakta on Sunday where you’ll also enjoy music from Gurunam Singh’s (Silent Moonlight Meditation) newest CD ,

Aquarian Age Conference Call with Shakta
Recording Now Available
If you missed the conference call with Shakta Kaur last Saturday morning
(May 12, 2012) you may listen to it at your convenience by
Shakta spoke about fate and destiny—karma and dharma—and how they exist together. She explains on this call, “At every moment you can choose to act in your fate or in your destiny. In fate, you create karma—actions you must complete or resolve. Acting in destiny means you are in flow with the universe, with your spirit and with your basic nature. These actions are beyond karma. They are in dharma, or, living within your destiny cycle.”
Utilizing the sacred science of Kundalini yoga and meditation you can re-write our destiny and live to your fullest potential. The soul returns again and again, remembering a little, forgetting, then remembering, until the destiny task is manifested. Each of us has a very unique destiny to fulfill which no one else can complete.
- four tools to help you embrace your spiritual destiny,
- a meditation guaranteed to bring tremendous change to your destiny and
- information about the Chicago, Illinois, USA, and Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, Teacher Training courses!
Teacher Training is an ‘earned’ destiny which:
- provides a direct, internal experience of yoga and meditation,
- orients your mind toward its proper role as your ‘servant,’
- stops the repetition of past errors and patterns,
- invokes your intuition, and
- makes your life easier.
Yogi Bhajan said: “It is my personal belief that there are certain souls which have to study from certain other souls. They have earned that destiny. The contact of the psycho-magnetic field is already arranged. Once in a life, each soul must come across the orbit of that soul from which he has the opportunity to learn. It is a law of consciousness. By the virtue of your previous incarnation, you always meet your teacher. Either you surrender your ego to the teacher or you run away from him. The law is that you will meet the opportunity, not that you will recognize it or sustain a commitment to it.”
So, learn how to consciously ‘embrace your destiny’ by
KYL's Theme for May & June
Embrace Your Destiny
Fate and destiny -- karma and dharma -- exist together. At every moment we can choose to act in our fate or in our destiny. In fate, we create karma -- actions we must complete or resolve. Acting in destiny we are in flow with the universe, with our spirit and with our basic nature. These actions are beyond karma. They are in dharma, or, living within our destiny cycle.
The soul returns again and again, remembering a little, forgetting, then remembering, until the destiny task is manifested. Each of us has a very unique destiny to fulfill which no one else can complete.
Come to Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) during May and June to ‘Embrace Your Destiny’ with yoga and meditation guaranteed to remove personal karmas, dissolve fate and open your heart and mind to the soul’s path!

A note from Shakta Kaur: “I will never be the same again,”
is what we often hear from those who have taken Kundalini Yoga
Teacher Training at KYL . My initial motivation was to
deepen my personal yoga and meditation practice. And, in
truth, I had no intention of teaching Kundalini Yoga. I
already had a degree in music education and had taught public
school music for several years. I really thought that my
teaching days were over!
It wasn’t long, however, before I found myself informally sharing
the techniques I’d learned during Teacher Training not only with
my friends and family, but with the loan officer at our bank and
other business contacts. I laughed out loud when I
realized that I was, in fact, ‘teaching!’
Whatever draws you to this amazing course in Kundalini Yoga as
taught by Yogi Bhajan, know that the end result will be perfect
for you even while it might also be totally different than what
you initially expected. Along the way your mental,
physical and emotional growth will be enhanced in a supportive
and cozy environment. You will learn the tools to not only
deepen your own personal practice, but, you will also gain the
knowledge and self-confidence to elevate yourself and others
into a more peaceful and powerful space.

New Moon - May 20
11 Days After - May 31
Full Moon - June 4
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
($13) - not on Friday

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
The greatest education man has to learn is not medical science, not sociology, not chemistry, not biology, not mathematics, but the science of man, the science of self. The science of self and self-awareness is the highest knowledge a man can possess because then you can pull through all circumstances.
