Healing Power of Gong & Mantra
with Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev Singh

This Friday, May 11
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
($15 in advance / $17 at the door)
Come enjoy our popular once-each-month session of the ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra.’ Perfect for unwinding after a busy work week KYL’s Friday night ‘gong and mantra’ sessions are one of our most popular regular events.

The Gong is a beautiful reinforced vibration that impacts the body by releasing blocks, reducing tension and stimulating circulation. Your mind will have no defense to the Gong after 90 seconds!

And, you’ll experience what the yogis say about the human body--that it is, in fact, like a wonderful musical instrument constructed with meridians that allow an inflow of healing and energy to cascade into the body like a waterfall. Out of the Gong came all music, all sounds and all words.

At the close of the session we use primal sounds (Mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. As we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we tune into a different level of intelligence, or consciousness.

So, Click Here to pre-register and join us for the deep vibrational healing of gong and mantra!
Celebrate Mother's Day at KYL
Mother’s Day Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the Gong

at KYL
with Shakta
10:30 am to 12 noon

And, as always, enjoy a delicious veggie potluck afterwards!
On Mother's Day this Sunday know that your mother's soul deeply loves and cares for you. Honor your mother by holding her in your heart with the gift of your prayers and meditations when you join Shakta for class at Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Better yet, bring your mother (or aunt or daughter or son!) to class Sunday if you can. It will be a special blessing for all!

You always benefit from holding the loving energy of happiness and hope in your heart for your mother (whether living or deceased). Many have claimed to experience miracles in their lives after re-establishing a bond with their mother. Others say it is miraculous feeling just to energize the divine mother within.

This Sunday come honor and bless your Mother while connecting at the same time with the divine, creative, universal Mother. Click Here to register.
Majesty of the Woman...
Yogi Bhajan Speaks about Women

Los Angeles
May 9, 1971
“It gives me a very great satisfaction that I could be such a pure channel that I could do something for the women of America. I am assuring you I will virtually live for this. I am a worshipper of the woman, Bhagwati. Lord Shiva is known to be the God of this earth, and I can kid with him anytime I like, I don’t care for him. But for the Bhagwati I do care very much because I worship her in my heart. She is with me and the Divine Mother protects me all the time. I know my faults and my follies and I know my strong protection. That protection is stronger than anything I have realized in my whole life. Therefore, I feel like just lodging a great protest with the world today.

Don’t talk about peace, don’t talk about spirituality, don’t give us a message of Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ, Buddha, Ram, Krishna. We have heard that and heard that. Give us something so that we may stop exploiting our own mother. Give us something that we can relate to this creative power of the God which is the mother. Give us something we can honestly draw in our heart the image of Grace of the Mother. And O Lord of Lords of the time, if you have created this world, create those environments where everybody’s mother, sister and every woman on this planet can live with grace and there shall be no circumstances in which she has to sell her beauty, sell her body, sell her being, sell her consciousness, to exist on this planet.

I do not know whether my tiny and feeble voice (well, it is very strong, I know about it) can be heard, and where, but I am pretty sure I will shout from those mountains, I will never rest on that planet on which woman is still being exploited. That is my ultimate goal and my ultimate urge. But I am not fool enough to try single handed. I know my thousands, and hundred thousands and millions of children shall be ready, the day shall be ready, we will wipe out this insult to our own generation, out of this planet. God has given me sufficient big heart, I can practice patience better than I can practice Yoga, therefore, I will wait up to that time when the soul in you will become so pure, so awake, so aware, that you will be willing to sacrifice your being to protect the very gentle, sweet being who brought you to what you are today.”
Our Theme...
KYL's Theme for May & June

Embrace Your Destiny
Fate and destiny -- karma and dharma -- exist together. At every moment we can choose to act in our fate or in our destiny. In fate, we create karma -- actions we must complete or resolve. Acting in destiny we are in flow with the universe, with our spirit and with our basic nature. These actions are beyond karma. They are in dharma, or, living within our destiny cycle.

The soul returns again and again, remembering a little, forgetting, then remembering, until the destiny task is manifested. Each of us has a very unique destiny to fulfill which no one else can complete.

Come to Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) during May and June to ‘Embrace Your Destiny’ with yoga and meditation guaranteed to remove personal karmas, dissolve fate and open your heart and mind to the soul’s path! Click Here to register for classes.

Shakta is Teaching
at the Midwest Yoga Conference (MYC)

May 17 – May 20
Hilton Indian Lakes Resort & Spa
Bloomingdale, Illinois
Once again Shakta Kaur is honored to teach at the 13th annual Midwest Yoga Conference. She’s hoping you’ll join her for one of two special Kundalini Yoga and Meditation classes.

A Beginner’s Guide to Kundalini Yoga and Meditation - Friday, May 18th Shakta teaches a special ‘Beginner’s Guide to Kundalini Yoga and Meditation’ from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. In this class students will learn about the seven Chakras, the Arcline and the Aura (the eighth chakra), the Ten Bodies and the three minds. They’ll also experience how sound and mantras combine with breath as an integral part of Kundalini practice. Shakta will encourage everyone to commit to a 40-day follow-up 'sadhana challenge' to overcome limitations and enjoy life more. (Even though this class is designed for beginners, all levels are welcome!)

The Three Treasures of Meditation - Sunday, May 20th, Shakta teaches ‘The 3 Treasures of Meditation: Crystallize, Express and Transcend the Self’ from 8:00 to 10:00 am. In this session participants will create a balanced and neutral mind through a series of three meditations. The first meditation is chosen to recognize the sensation of self and crystallize it into clear presence. The second meditation is designed to develop a new sensitivity to engage and express the self in all the activities of daily life. Finally, the third meditation is chosen so participants can transcend the self seeing within the formless presence of the Infinite. The realized or enlightened human being is the gift of the 3 treasures of meditation. This session is for anyone wishing to deepen the joy of their meditation practice. All levels welcome.

Yoga Bazaar - Stop by Kundalini Yoga in the Loop’s (KYL) booth in the Midwest Yoga Conference’s Yoga Bazaar, too. The Yoga Bazaar is open both to the general public and to those registered for the conference. So, come hang out, chat with Shakta Kaur and enjoy the company of 500+ yogis from a wide variety of yogic traditions!

Embrace Your Destiny

Saturday, May 12
7:00 am Central Time / 8:00 am Eastern Time / 9:00 am Atlantic Time

Fate and destiny - karma and dharma - exist together. At every moment we can choose to act in our fate or in our destiny. In fate, we create karma--actions we must complete or resolve. Acting in destiny we are in flow with the universe, with our spirit and with our basic nature. These actions are beyond karma. They are in dharma, or, living within our destiny cycle.

Because we have a will which has freedom we can make new choices to dissolve fate and transform ourselves. Utilizing the sacred science of Kundalini yoga and meditation we can re-write our destiny and live to our fullest potential. This happens when the soul is un-shrouded and clear. At that moment transformation takes place and the magic begins.

The soul returns again and again, remembering a little, forgetting, then remembering, until the destiny task is manifested. Each of us has a very unique destiny to fulfill which no one else can complete.

On this 1-hour phone call Shakta will share...
    - four tools to help you embrace your spiritual destiny,
    - a meditation guaranteed to bring tremendous change to your destiny and
    - information about the Chicago, Illinois, USA, and Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, Teacher Training courses!

    - orients your mind toward its proper role as your ‘servant,’
    - stops the repetition of past errors and patterns,
    - invokes your intuition, and

A note from Shakta Kaur:  “I will never be the same again,” is what we often hear from those who have taken Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training at KYL .  My initial motivation was to deepen my personal yoga and meditation practice.  And, in truth, I had no intention of teaching Kundalini Yoga.  I already had a degree in music education and had taught public school music for several years.  I really thought that my teaching days were over!

It wasn’t long, however, before I found myself informally sharing the techniques I’d learned during Teacher Training not only with my friends and family, but with the loan officer at our bank and other business contacts.  I laughed out loud when I realized that I was, in fact, ‘teaching!’

Whatever draws you to this amazing course in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, know that the end result will be perfect for you even while it might also be totally different than what you initially expected.  Along the way your mental, physical and emotional growth will be enhanced in a supportive and cozy environment.  You will learn the tools to not only deepen your own personal practice, but, you will also gain the knowledge and self-confidence to elevate yourself and others into a more peaceful and powerful space.

Moon Watch

Full Moon - May 5

New Moon - May 20

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
With these words, and with this prayer of mine, on this most beautiful [Mother’s] day which I relate to, it is a day to be reminded of my own source of energy, I bow to every mother and I also ask to the would-be mother, to be graceful. And I ask every man who would seek peace to realize peace doesn’t come by protests and rallies. We know it and are aware of it. Peace comes from peaceful actions and so long as those born of the mother will not learn to respect the woman, there shall not be any peace on this planet. The day on this planet the woman will not be exploited; there shall be peace on earth.
