Healing Power of Gong & Mantra
with Shakta Kaur
and Hari Dev Singh
Friday, May 11
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
($15 in advance / $17 at the door)
our popular once-each-month session of the ‘Healing Power of
Gong & Mantra.’ Perfect for unwinding after a busy work week KYL’s Friday night ‘gong and mantra’ sessions are one of our most popular regular events.
The Gong is a beautiful reinforced vibration that impacts the body by releasing blocks, reducing tension and stimulating circulation. Your mind will have no defense to the Gong after 90 seconds!
And, you’ll experience what the yogis say about the human body--that it is, in fact, like a wonderful musical instrument constructed with meridians that allow an inflow of healing and energy to cascade into the body like a waterfall. Out of the Gong came all music, all sounds and all words.
At the close of the session we use primal sounds (Mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. As we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we tune into a different level of intelligence, or consciousness.

gong and mantra!

Embrace Your Destiny
Saturday, May 12
7:00 am Central Time / 8:00 am Eastern Time / 9:00 am Atlantic Time
Fate and destiny - karma and dharma - exist together. At every moment we can choose to act in our fate or in our destiny. In fate, we create karma--actions we must complete or resolve. Acting in destiny we are in flow with the universe, with our spirit and with our basic nature. These actions are beyond karma. They are in dharma, or, living within our destiny cycle.
Because we have a will which has freedom we can make new choices to dissolve fate and transform ourselves. Utilizing the sacred science of Kundalini yoga and meditation we can re-write our destiny and live to our fullest potential. This happens when the soul is un-shrouded and clear. At that moment transformation takes place and the magic begins.
The soul returns again and again, remembering a little, forgetting, then remembering, until the destiny task is manifested. Each of us has a very unique destiny to fulfill which no one else can complete.
On this 1-hour phone call Shakta will share...
- four tools to help you embrace your spiritual destiny,
- a meditation guaranteed to bring tremendous change to your destiny and
- information about the Chicago, Illinois, USA, and Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada, Teacher Training courses!
You will learn how Teacher Training is an ‘earned’ destiny which...
- provides a direct, internal experience of yoga and meditation,
- orients your mind toward its proper role as your ‘servant,’
- stops the repetition of past errors and patterns,
- invokes your intuition, and
- makes your life easier.
Join Shakta on Saturday, May 12th, to learn how to consciously ‘embrace your destiny.’

A note from Shakta Kaur: “I will never be the same again,”
is what we often hear from those who have taken Kundalini Yoga
Teacher Training at KYL . My initial motivation was to
deepen my personal yoga and meditation practice. And, in
truth, I had no intention of teaching Kundalini Yoga. I
already had a degree in music education and had taught public
school music for several years. I really thought that my
teaching days were over!
It wasn’t long, however, before I found myself informally sharing
the techniques I’d learned during Teacher Training not only with
my friends and family, but with the loan officer at our bank and
other business contacts. I laughed out loud when I
realized that I was, in fact, ‘teaching!’
Whatever draws you to this amazing course in Kundalini Yoga as
taught by Yogi Bhajan, know that the end result will be perfect
for you even while it might also be totally different than what
you initially expected. Along the way your mental,
physical and emotional growth will be enhanced in a supportive
and cozy environment. You will learn the tools to not only
deepen your own personal practice, but, you will also gain the
knowledge and self-confidence to elevate yourself and others
into a more peaceful and powerful space.
Six Components to Teacher Training at KYL:
Kriya and Meditation: The
foundation of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®
The theory and practice of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (yoga sets),
asanas, and mudras. Explore the nature of the mind and its

pranayam (breathing techniques).

history and tradition of Kundalini Yoga, as well as the
underlying philosophy behind all yogic practices. The
technologies of Kundalini Yoga as they apply to healing and
humanology (the science of daily living), including diet,
nutrition, and relationships.
Anatomy & Physiology:
Essentials of Yogic and Functional Anatomy
Western anatomy, its purpose and function, including the
respiratory, nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, circulatory,
endocrine and digestive systems and their relation to the

vayus and the ten yogic bodies.

Food For The Gods
|This lovely dish again graced
the Sunday potluck, to much acclaim!
New Moon - April 21
11 Days After - May 2
Full Moon - May 5
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
($13) - not on Friday

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
When the karma of your previous incarnation will be cleansed out, and your courage is steady, then everything will start working for you without saying a thing. That is the state of life we must achieve.
