KYL's Eighth Anniversary...
Sunday - October 9

Guru Ram Das' Birthday
and KYL's 8th Anniversary
Schedule
4:00 am – Japji (meditative prayer)
4:20 am – Warm-Ups
4:30 am – Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru (chanting for 2.5 hours)*
7:00 am – Hukam, Long Time Sunshine Song
(Doors open at 3:30 am. Doors lock at 4:15 am.)

When Shakta opened the doors to KYL in October 2003 the very first class she taught was on Guru Ram Das’ birthday. Guru Ram Das was the 4th of the Sikh Gurus and Yogi Bhajan’s teacher on the astral plane. Was that merely circumstantial, or, was it serendipity? We think it was destiny! And, every year since then, we chant 2.5 hours of Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru on Guru Ram Das’ birthday.

Guru Ram Das is also known as the Lord of Miracles. So, in effect, when you join with others to praise the realm of Guru Ram Das on his birthday anything stuck in your life can be moved from the impossible to the possible.

Join us this coming Sunday to experience for yourself the sacred healing and guidance of Guru Ram Das.

The mantra Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru is a shabd (song in Naad) widely known for its blessings of protection and healing in times of deep trouble. When life seems stuck, praise the domain of Guru Ram Das, the realm of the heart and of the Neutral Mind where all things become pure. This mantra reaches the realm of miracles. Ask for a miracle and then watch the impossible become possible!

Welcome the Aquarian Age
with
Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D.

A once-every-2,160-years event!

Friday -
6 to 8:30 PM
$35 adv / $50 door*
Coming soon is what the ancient ones have talked about for millennia — the change of the age — from the Piscean to the Aquarian Age.** And we are privileged to share the arrival of this new age with the Kundalini Research Institute’s (KRI) Director of Training, Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., as he joins us for a very special ‘Stages of Meditation’ workshop at KYL.

Our 11.11.11 evening celebration of ‘the change of the age’ is the prelude to the debut of the new deep meditation series called ‘The Stages of Meditation: An Expedition towards Realization.’ Gurucharan Singh learned these 21 stages directly from his teacher, Yogi Bhajan, and developed the workshops for this special 3-part meditation series.

This ‘expedition towards realization’ consists of three journeys. Each journey lasts one weekend. Each weekend takes you through seven stages of deep meditation. Each stage systematically confronts your mind’s patterns and limitations, awakens a part of you and develops new skills to clear your way towards realization.

So, mark your calendar and plan to join us in Chicago on the evening of 11.11.11 and also to immerse yourself in two days of deep meditation that will follow immediately. Then, save the dates in January and March (below) to complete all 21 stages in this journey of deep meditation with KRI’s Director of Training Gurucharan Singh Khalsa!

Journey 1: Crystallize the Self — Nov. 12-13
Journey 2: Express the Self — Jan. 14-15
Journey 3: Transcend the Self — March 17-18 ***

Click Here for more details.  Click Here to register for the 11.11.11 workshop.
* The Friday Celebration fee is automatically included for those attending ‘The Stages of Meditation’ two-day workshop Nov. 12-13.

** The Piscean Age and the Aquarian Age are both measurable periods of time. Each is an astrological age, i.e., a time period that parallels major changes in the development of the human race. Each astrological age roughly corresponds to the time it takes for the vernal equinox to 'precess' through one of the twelve constellations of the zodiac; this takes about 2,160 years.

*** KRI is not certifying these three weekends as a Level 3 course.
We Remember the Master
Yogi Bhajan Remembrance Day

October 6
"Let no one weep for me after I am gone. That would not please me at all. When a friend receives a robe of honor, then his friends are pleased with his honor." -- Guru Arjan Dev, Siri Guru Granth Sahib

It is on this day that we remember the passing of Yogi Bhajan, the Master of Kundalini Yoga and the Mahan Tantric. Shakta remembers that day well. She was teaching a Kundalini Yoga class at Transitions Book Place in Chicago the evening that Yogi Bhajan transitioned from the earth plane. She arrived home that night to receive a phone message from a friend in Canada who relayed the news.

Before leaving the physical plane, Yogi Bhajan requested that his death be a time of celebrating his going home. So, during the 17 days after his death (a traditional time of memorial for Sikhs) and until his Memorial Service we all came together to chant, pray, talk, serve food to each other and eat together.

Please don’t ever think that you’re missing something because you didn’t have the opportunity to sit at his feet. You experience the touch of the Master through his teachings—through the kriyas and meditations he so selflessly gave—in each and every one of your visits to KYL. You imbibe the qualities he so gracefully exhibited and taught us to make our own--dignity, divinity, grace, commitment, courage, kindness, compassion, tolerance, wisdom, and understanding. That is the legacy of which you are a part. And, it is on this day that we remember the man--Yogi Bhajan--that brought this technology to us as an inheritance direct from Infinity, direct from the soul, delivered through the Golden Chain to you.

October 10, 17, 24
KYL is pleased to once again offer our popular pre-natal yoga class, ‘The Power of the Mother,’ on Mondays from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

The practice of yoga and meditation during pregnancy helps the body function more optimally and also influences the mental and emotional states of the mother-to-be. Learn how to create harmony within your changing self and your environments in the company of other pregnant women. Come share, meditate and enjoy your unfolding both as a woman and as a giver of life. Expand your power to conceive and create through pre-natal Kundalini Yoga at KYL.

You will learn:
-basic pregnancy yoga postures,
-body care and nutrition tips,
-yogic teachings regarding the connection between the mother and the soul to be incarnated, and
-meditations particularly suited for the time both during and after pregnancy.

New mom and recent KYL graduate, Sarab Nidhan Kaur Gillespie, is your instructor for this course. Sarab Nidhan practiced Kundalini Yoga and Meditation throughout her recent pregnancy and found it greatly reduced her stress level allowing her to relax . And, on June 10th, her healthy and handsome baby boy, Benjamin, was born!

Six pre-natal classes are $65 in advance; individual classes $13 each. Women interested in becoming pregnant are also encouraged to attend. Click Here to register.

A message from Gurucharan Singh:

“I spent over 35 years with Yogi Bhajan, the Master of Kundalini Yoga, from his immigration to the USA in 1969 until his passing in 2004. I learned about the three journeys, the stages and the meditations to complete the journeys directly from him and have shared that along with my own experiences from practice and teaching them. The stages provide an indispensable map for deepening and understanding meditation.”

Conversations with Shakta ...
Now Available On-Line!

Recordings of Conference Calls with Shakta

Listen to them from the comfort of your home or office!
Sitting at my desk, listening to 'a conversation with Shakta,' my first thoughts were: how very 'REAL' and comforting she is! How nurturing to my soul is her voice and the teachings ... You explained much that others who teach Kundalini take for granted, such as the aura... lengths of meditation times... etc... You made the kriyas so 'human' and not these exaggerated exercises that must get to 11 minutes or they will be 'null and void.' Such an Excellent teacher! More like a 'new Friend.' My only regret is that I am in another state and not close enough to have the pleasure of experiencing the energy of this woman... Thank you, Shakta.” -- N.K. New Jersey
The Change-Maker Meditation
Here you’ll learn a powerful yogic tool that can clear unfinished patterns from your past. Make new, more positive habits and eliminate those less-than-positive ones. Plus, emerging research shows that twelve minutes a day of this meditation can increase your memory, re-wire the frontal lobes of the brain and may slow down the aging process. Click Here to listen.

Release Subconscious Fears
Fear sometimes becomes part of our subconscious at a very early age. Then as adults we may show this unconscious fear as fear of loss, separation, abandonment or feelings of helplessness. Other times this fear might show itself in feelings of not really being sure of ourselves. Fear engages not only the mind, but the body, too. There are tools to eliminate fear from your life. Chicago Kundalini Teacher Training - 22 Days Away
“The Art & Science of Improving Yourself”

Teacher Training at KYL Chicago

Our 10th Level 1 Course!

10 Weekends Over 8 Months - Oct. 28 to May 6
Taking the personal journey we call ‘Teacher Training’ — this year in particular as we transition from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age — is truly a gift to yourself. This course is based on the comprehensive science of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®. It is a journey in the art and science of improving yourself based upon excellence and exaltation. Come learn to elevate your own consciousness and you will also develop the skills necessary to teach Kundalini Yoga publicly as a consciousness educator (if you so choose).

At first you might be attracted to Kundalini Yoga for the more obvious reasons like:

-- increasing your strength and improving your flexibility,
-- reducing your stress and learning to relax,
-- learning proper breathing or even
-- for health problems.

But, over time the attraction to this technology increases as you experience:
-- a feeling of connection and vastness,
-- a clarity and neutrality of mind,
-- a calmness and evenness in your life and even
-- fulfillment as a spiritual being.

We hope you will join us for the incredible experience called ‘Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.'

* Japji is a prayer which relates the conscious mind to the soul.  It is one of the daily prayers of the Sikhs.  ‘Jap-’ is often translated as ‘song of’ and ‘-ji’ as ‘the soul.’  As a result, Japji is called ‘the song of the soul.’
** Gurudakshina is tithing, or, an offering as an expression of gratitude for the teachings.  ‘-Dakshina’ will give ‘drib drishtee.’  You will start seeing the unseen.  It will mega-multiply you financially, socially and personally.

Moon Watch
CURRENT MOON

New Moon - September 27

11 Days After - October 8

Full Moon - October 11

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress of your special projects.

11 Days After New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance. The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect. Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon and water the rest of the day.

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
Hail Guru Ram Das and heal the world. It is His problem to heal. Your problem is to insert Him into it. You have nothing to worry about. If He doesn’t heal, His name will be spoiled—what’s it to you? Most of the time you do not know what to do, true? There are so many times I do not know what to do. So, I insert Him into it.
"
