The 21 Stages of Meditation

Coming to Chicago

November 11-13, 2011 (Part 1 of 3)

Open to All – students, teachers, friends, family!
Welcome the Aquarian Age on Friday, November 11, as you join KRI’s Director of Training, Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D., in Chicago, Illinois, USA, for the launch of Level 3 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training.

Meditation is both a skill and an experience. It has stages, just as a flower grows from seed to sprout to leaves to bloom. Gurucharan Singh was guided through the stages of meditation at the feet of Yogi Bhajan. Now, let Gurucharan guide you through ‘The 21 Stages of Meditation’ as part of the final training - Level 3 - in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®.

Hosted by Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) you will be among the first to begin the journey of ‘The 21 Stages of Meditation’ – the meditative path to realization. The 21 Stages of Meditation are grouped into three ‘journeys’ of seven stages each. They are:
Experience & Crystallize the Self – November 11-13, 2011
Express & Distill the Self – January 2012 (dates TBA)
Transcend & Sublimate the Self - March 2012 (dates TBA)
This course is for anyone and everyone who wants to deepen the joy of their meditation experience. It is also a requirement for Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training Level 3. So, mark the November 11-13 dates on your calendar, watch for additional details to come soon and make plans now to join us!
Summer Solstice Classes at KYL
Summer Solstice Classes at KYL

Tuesday, June 21

12:15 to 1:00 pm
6:00 to 7:00 pm
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with Jasdeep Kaur in two special classes next Tuesday at KYL! ‘Solstice’ comes from the Latin (sol, sun, stands). For several days before and after each solstice, the sun appears to stand still in the sky. This is the longest day and shortest night of the year in the northern hemisphere, It also marks the ‘official’ beginning of summer.

Summer Solstice is also seen by yogis as a primary gateway for manifestation. So, come to KYL and manifest what you deserve on this day when the sun is at its highest energy! Consciously attract and send abundance, perfect health, happiness and contentment to yourself, your friends and loved ones.

Click Here to register for a Summer Solstice Tuesday class at KYL.  In the meanwhile, enjoy these excerpts from a talk given by Yogi Bhajan on June 18, 1973 at Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration:
“We want strength once a year to prove to our own selves how much we love each other. We want our gathering to be together. This is our yatra. That is the purpose of it. We want to see each other. We want to meet each other. We want to sing together. We want to face each others’ difficulties. We want to help each other. We want to love each other. We want to understand each other. We want to be each other. We don’t care if God comes, “Thank you very much.” We want to deserve. We don’t want to desire anything. We have come here to deserve everything. And when you deserve, your desires are fulfilled auto-matically.

We want to practice the mantra, Keep Up. We want certain things to keep our life together. For certain days we want to know each other together. We don’t want to live in a steel jungle during these days. Is it clear to you? That is what we want.

You have come here to build what we have lost. We want to build a nation which we have lost. We want to lay the foundations of the new future. That is the purpose of us being here this day: to prove to our¬selves that we have the spirit to survive through every obstacle.”
Father's Day
Sunday - June 19

Father's Day Class at KYL

10:30 to Noon
(vegetarian potluck follows class)
The bond between you and your father is very profound. You have known each other for a long, long time. In fact, you made a contract to be together in this relationship before the two of you came into the earth plane. Even after death--for either the father or the child--that relationship continues.

No matter what kind of relationship you have had with your father it is important to thank the soul that helped bring you here. The purpose of being on earth is to evolve your soul. So, it is important to thank the soul that brought you into this world, to wish him well and to pray for him.

Join Hari Dev Singh for a special Father’s Day Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class to celebrate both fathers and Father’s Day. If your father is alive you can wish him the gift of health and longevity. If your father is deceased you can wish him the gift of peace for his soul. And, if your relationship with your father needs a bit of repair, you can infuse some harmony, burn some karma and help release bad feelings... on both sides! In return you will receive grace for honoring the man that bestowed the gift of life to you.

Sunday's class is always followed by community potluck - bring a vegetarian dish and enjoy the community spirit at KYL. Click Here to register.

KYL Graduates Level 1 Instructors of Kundalini Yoga

View Photo Gallery (courtesy of Guru Nam Kaur)
On Sunday, June 5, friends and family members gathered on the tenth floor of the Fine Arts Building to honor the commitment, time, energy and devotion of those who completed KYL’s ten weekend Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training course in Chicago. Their Graduation Ceremony was both moving and enlightening for all present.

Each teacher-in-training joined Shakta on-stage and shared the meaning of their spiritual name. They also shared one learning or remembrance that they will always keep with them as a result of taking the course. Saying the Kundalini Yoga Teachers Oath ('I am not a woman, I am not a man, I am not a person, I am not myself, I’m a teacher!’) aloud as an individual came next. Then the entire class came on-stage to say the Teachers Oath together and take photos.

The new Instructors then taught a beautiful mantra meditation to their guests and honored Shakta Kaur, Hari Dev Singh and assistants Jasdeep Kaur, Ram Nam Kaur and Guru Nam Kaur before the ceremony ended with the Long Time Sunshine Song. Afterward, everyone enjoyed a delicious (and abundant!) potluck meal together.

Moon Watch

Full Moon - June 15

New Moon - July 1

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
Rejoice my love,
And share with me
This sacred time on Earth.

Renew your energy at Summer Solstice,
This is the time of rebirth.
The Aquarian Age, we’re on the cusp.
Increase vitality to experience virtues,
This is a must!

Chant with the angels, high in the sky.
At Ram Das Puri, let your soul fly.
Come to Summer Solstice.

Stars shine at night,
Water crystal pure,
Air clean and bright.

Power of prayer, to heal and be healed.
In the company of the holy we know and we feel.

Let us share these precious days.
Let us honor highest consciousness in every way.
