For Kundalini Yoga Teachers
|
White Tantric Yoga®
Guidelines – Part Two
Especially designed for teachers of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®
|
As promised, we have created a special curriculum for teachers to use in the weeks immediately leading up to and after WTY Chicago. While what is included in this curriculum is certainly not an exhaustive listing of all the kriyas and meditations you could use in your classes, it provides a good frame of reference.
The mantras chosen in this curriculum include some of those that will be used during Chicago’s WTY course on Saturday, April 30. Other meditations suggested involve holding the arms up. It is a good idea to gradually increase the time for the meditations that you teach in your pre-WTY classes. That way, students will be better prepared for the 31- and 62-minute meditations they will experience at WTY.
Finally, be sure to teach the bandhas, especially root and neck lock, as a tool for maintaining a comfortable seated posture during White Tantric Yoga.
An electronic copy of the Pre- and Post-WTY Chicago Curriculum
is here:

“In White Tantric Yoga, energy is created en masse to purify the physical and mental bodies. The soul, which is already pure, starts relating to the very existence of the being." -- Yogi Bhajan
As we get closer to Saturday, April 30, there are several suggestions that can help optimize your experience in these last few weeks immediately prior to Chicago’s White Tantric Yoga Course.
WHAT IS IT? White Tantric Yoga® (WTY) is world-renowned as one of the most powerful and beautiful of all subtle energy practices. It is an integral part of the Kundalini Yoga experience. It enables you to break through deep subconscious blocks, so that your mind, body, and soul can act together as one. As a path to personal freedom and awareness, it has been said that this practice can bring success to every area of your life.
There are no prerequisites for participating in White Tantric Yoga. Beginners will tune into their internal energies and enjoy a deep and sometimes challenging meditative experience. More advanced meditators will deepen their experience and make new inroads to their spiritual awareness.
DAILY PRACTICE It is recommended you choose either a yoga set or meditation (or both!) to practice each day beginning now and continuing until White Tantric Yoga. This daily practice will prepare your body and mind for the clearing that inevitably happens as a result of participating in White Tantric Yoga.
TIPS For an optimal experience, it is recommended that you reduce the amount of caffeine, alcohol and red meat currently in your diet. (Eliminating them altogether is ideal!) The reduction of these items will make for an easier meditative experience, i.e., you will be less anxious, less jittery and you will be able to sit more comfortably during the meditations with your partner.
WHAT TO EXPECT WTY is done in pairs as a group meditation. You sit facing a partner and follow instructions given on DVD by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan, and repeated by the course facilitator. Every course is facilitated in person by a representative of the Mahan Tantric.
Each WTY course consists of between six and eight kriyas. A WTY kriya is a meditation incorporating a yoga posture, mudra (hand position), eye focus (dristi) and mental focus. Sometimes the meditations are accompanied by music. The meditations vary in length from 11 to 62 minutes. There are breaks in between each mediation.
INTENTION The mere act of registering for a White Tantric Course sends an intention--a message to the universe--that you’re looking for a change and that you want to cleanse yourself. Some people have very specific intentions for White Tantric Yoga. They might have an intention of getting rid of “X,” to heal “Y” or to understand “Z.” In the alternative, if you have an unpleasant memory, you can bring that thought and find relief at White Tantric Yoga—you don’t have to go through it over and over again.
WHAT TO WEAR Wear loose fitting and
comfortable white or light-colored clothing. White combines all
the colors and enhances the magnetic field. Bring a white cotton
head covering that will stay securely on your head (there will
be white head coverings available to purchase at WTY if you
forget yours or don’t have one). Wearing a head covering is for
your personal growth and upliftment. It also helps keep your
positive energy within. Wear shoes that slip on and off easily
because White Tantric Yoga is practiced with the feet uncovered.

Shakta Teaching at Midwest Yoga Conference

Shakta Teaching at the 12th Annual
Midwest Yoga Conference
All for Love
Friday, May 20 – Sunday, May 22
|
For the fifth year in a row Shakta Kaur is teaching Kundalini
Yoga and Meditation at the Midwest Yoga Conference! Each of
Shakta’s workshops features Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the
Gong.
The Invincible Woman
On Friday, May 20th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Shakta's focus is ‘The
Invincible Woman.’ The scriptures teach that women are 16 times
more intelligent and 200 times more sensitive than men. But,
Shakta says, ‘women don’t understand how to use this power.
Sixteen times more intelligence is not to count weaknesses or
fears--it is to count blessings.’ This is a special
‘women only’ session as Shakta reveals the beauty of
the Creator manifest as the Shakti within every woman.
Sacred Sexual Bliss On Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 to 10:00
am Shakta teaches that sexuality and spirituality are not
mutually exclusive in ‘Sacred Sexual Bliss with Kundalini Yoga,
Venus Kriyas and the Gong.’ According to yogic teachings there
are over a dozen different types of sexual encounters. In this
session Shakta helps expand your knowledge about how to prepare
for and end each sexual encounter. Appropriate for either
singles or couples (not recommended for pregnant women).
Divine Sexuality On Sunday, May 22,
from 8:00 to 10:00 am Shakta’s workshop focuses on the sexual
relationship as the throne of creativity in ‘Divine Sexuality
with Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the Gong.’ In this session
she’ll share timeless yogic teachings about men, women,
sexuality, and after-sex care for both men and women. Also included
is how, ideally, the act of sexual intercourse is the final act
which starts in the impulse of spirit as the ‘urge to merge.’
All levels welcome (not recommended for pregnant women).
As in years past, the Midwest Yoga Conference will be held
at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort & Spa in Bloomingdale,
Illinois. Click

Moon Watch

New Moon -
April 3
11 Days After - April 14
Full Moon - April 17
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
|
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
We say "Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan," because we don't want to pollute it with other things... That's why we ourselves named it "White Tantric Yoga." White Tantric is for the spirit, for elevation and it completes everything. That's why we distinguish it from Black Tantric and Red Tantric. Those are temporary nonsenses. We don't even want to associate ourselves with them.
