Early Morning Sadhana This Sunday
Sunday March 13
4:00 am to 6:30 am
4:00 am – Japji (meditative prayer)
4:25 am – Kundalini Yoga
5:10 am – Aquarian Sadhana Mantras*
6:30 am – Hukam** and the Long Time Sunshine Song
6:45 am – Breakfast at Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev Singh’s condominium.
Once each month we offer the experience of early morning sadhana at KYL. We begin at 4:00 am when the rays of the sun are hitting the earth at a 60 degree angle. Why get up at this time? Because this is the time when all of the great spiritual teachers appear to bless, elevate and transform each one of us.
The doors to the Fine Arts Building (FAB) open at 3:45 am. Please time your arrival for then. We begin sadhana at 4:00 am.
The doors to the FAB are locked again at 4:15 am.
* Yogi Bhajan gave a specific sequence of mantras on June 21,
1992, with instructions to use them for morning sadhana in this particular order for 21 years. The order of the mantras is 1) Long Ek Ong Kar, 2) Wah Yantee, Kah Yantee, 3) the Mul Mantra, 4) Sat Siree, Siree Akal, 5) Rakhe Rakhanahaar, 6) Wahe Guru Wahe Jio and 7) the Guru Ram Das chant.
** A ‘hukam’ is the ‘divine order’ or quote of the day.
Open House at FAB
"Second Friday" Open House
at Fine Arts Building
5 pm to 9 pm
Every second Friday of the month the public is invited to wander the halls of KYL’s home in the historic Fine Arts Building (FAB). We hope to see you this Friday as you enjoy the unique architecture, galleries, shops and studios of the FAB’s resident artists, musicians and yogis. Be sure to stop by KYL to experience a 3-minute meditation and the gong. You will be very glad that you did!
Theme for March & April
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." -- Albert Einstein
Yoga for Intuition and Insight
During the months of March and April at KYL come experience Kundalini Yoga and Meditation especially designed to...
Deepen the ability to listen to your inner voice,
- Discriminate the real from the unreal,
- Help you operate from your relaxed and confident self,
- Anticipate the effects of your actions, and
- Identify your personal intuition ‘signature’ and know it to be true!
When your intuition is working it is the best asset you can have in our ever-changing and fast-paced world. Whenever you want the answer to something simply call on your ‘inner’ voice — the intuition and insight that you carry with you everywhere.
This inner ‘intuitive’ voice comes from the heart and not from the head. It is an immediate perception of truth without reason or analysis or the input of others. It helps with sorting through the myriad of options that present themselves to you each and every day. You simply ‘know’ which ones are right for you. For some this inner voice is an inner knowing; an ‘aha’ moment. For others it is an unexpected new thought or insight.
Come develop your intuitive sense and revel in what begins to unfold for you!
Here for class schedule.
Healing Power of Triple Gong & Mantra

Shakta’s Photo in Newspaper – Indian newspaper that is!
While on our yatra to India we were all surprised to see a familiar yogi’s face featured in the
Hindustani Times newspaper not once, but twice... two days in a row, actually! Shakta Kaur was our familiar yogi... along with Hari Dev Singh... and one of the Tallahassee, Florida, Level 1 Teacher Training graduates, SukhNam Kaur DelMonico. (Shakta can be seen in the lower photo - sixth from left - wearing a pink shawl.)
Shakta was teaching at the Purnarnava Ayurveda & Yoga Conference in Rishikesh, India, during the day. One evening, after the Conference proceedings had concluded, SukhNam Kaur and Shakta were out shopping in Rishikesh. As they were looking over various wares, one of the shop keepers looked up from his newspaper and said, ‘this is YOU,’ pointing to Shakta. And, so it was. And, so it is, scanned here for you to see as well!
During the opening ceremonies, the Central Minister (we call
it 'Governor') of the state gave a welcome speech.
following photo was snapped then. You can see Shakta and
Sukhnam Kaur listening to the CM's speech.
You can also see Hari Dev 'deeply listening' to the same speech.
Returning home, Hari Dev was asked 'How was your trip?'...
"The word ‘trip’ is perfect – visiting India is always a ‘trip.’ The country is a sea or color, noise, dust, cows, and movement. There are 1.15 Billion people in India - the US has 0.31 Billion people. India covers an area of 1,269,345 sq mi – the US covers 3,717,792 sq mi. So India has almost 4 times more people than us, crammed into a space 1/3 of us. The density of people per square mile is: India at 0.90 – USA at 0.08 – about 11 times more dense in India! And if they accounted for all the cows roaming the streets...
There is a wonderful polarity at all times while visiting India. Within the same visual field you will see soaring heights of beauty and devotion, combined with the crushing poverty of a third-world country. All day long you walk within this paradox, and it has a wonderful effect on your psyche –
it forces you to really understand the blessings you enjoy at home. Returning home you are startled at how well-ordered we live, and have so many advantages relative to most of the world. If you are
very astute, you will realize that we have the opportunity to reach for our spiritual destiny, where most people can only reach for their next meal.
Living in the US is your opportunity to elevate your spirit, most Americans do not understand that.
One of our local tour guides was remarkable in his simplicity when explaining Big Ideas. Here is his explanation of the Big Picture:
“The material world is ruled by the mind; the spiritual world is ruled by the heart.” And as all yogis know, the material world is temporary (and therefore called an ‘illusion’); where the eternal life is within the
realm of spirit.
Spend more time developing your spirit, it has a bigger payoff in the long run.
The ‘take home’ lesson from visiting India – you are very blessed to be living in a ‘first-world’ country, fully explore your spiritual development while here; do not waste this opportunity on the trivia of life, rather, work to enhance your soul and fulfill your destiny."

The Invincible Woman
On Friday, May 20th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Shakta's focus is ‘The
Invincible Woman.’ The scriptures teach that women are 16 times
more intelligent and 200 times more sensitive than men. But,
Shakta says, ‘women don’t understand how to use this power.
Sixteen times more intelligence is not to count weaknesses or
fears--it is to count blessings.’ This is a special
‘women only’ session as Shakta reveals the beauty of
the Creator manifest as the Shakti within every woman.
Sacred Sexual Bliss
On Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 to 10:00
am Shakta teaches that sexuality and spirituality are not
mutually exclusive in ‘Sacred Sexual Bliss with Kundalini Yoga,
Venus Kriyas and the Gong.’ According to yogic teachings there
are over a dozen different types of sexual encounters. In this
session Shakta helps expand your knowledge about how to prepare
for and end each sexual encounter. Appropriate for either
singles or couples (not recommended for pregnant women).
On Sunday, May 22,
from 8:00 to 10:00 am Shakta’s workshop focuses on the sexual
relationship as the throne of creativity in ‘Divine Sexuality
with Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the Gong.’ In this session
she’ll share timeless yogic teachings about men, women,
sexuality, and after-sex care for both men and women. Also included
is how, ideally, the act of sexual intercourse is the final act
which starts in the impulse of spirit as the ‘urge to merge.’
All levels welcome (not recommended for pregnant women).
As in years past, the Midwest Yoga Conference will be held
at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort & Spa in Bloomingdale,

"I really enjoyed the Sacred Sex Conference Call. I learned a lot and was
reminded of things I have read and heard before, but because of Shakta’s
diligent way of formulating the structure of the material, I was able to get
much more out of the information rather than just reading about it. Thank

“In White Tantric Yoga, energy is created en masse to purify the physical and mental bodies. The soul, which is already pure, starts relating to the very existence of the being." -- Yogi Bhajan
WHAT IS IT?
White Tantric Yoga® (WTY) is world-renowned as one of the most powerful and beautiful of all subtle energy practices. It is an integral part of the Kundalini Yoga experience. It enables you to break through deep subconscious blocks, so that your mind, body, and soul can act together as one. As a path to personal freedom and awareness, it has been said that this practice can bring success to every area of your life.
WTY is done in pairs as a group meditation. You sit facing a partner and follow instructions given on DVD by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan, and repeated by the course facilitator. Every course is facilitated in person by a representative of the Mahan Tantric.
Each WTY course consists of between six and eight kriyas. A WTY kriya is a meditation incorporating a yoga posture, mudra (hand position), eye focus (dristi) and mental focus. Sometimes the meditations are accompanied by music. The meditations vary in length from 11 to 62 minutes. There are breaks in between each mediation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There are no prerequisites for participating in White Tantric Yoga. Beginners will tune into their internal energies and enjoy a deep and sometimes challenging meditative experience. More advanced meditators will deepen their experience and make new inroads to their spiritual awareness.
The mere act of registering for a White Tantric Course sends an intention--a message to the universe--that you’re looking for a change and that you want to cleanse yourself. Some people have very specific intentions for White Tantric Yoga. They might have an intention of getting rid of “X,” to heal “Y” or to understand “Z.” In the alternative, if you have an unpleasant memory, you can bring that thought and find relief at White Tantric Yoga—you don’t have to go through it over and over again.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear loose fitting and
comfortable white or light-colored clothing. White combines all
the colors and enhances the magnetic field. Bring a white cotton
head covering that will stay securely on your head (...there will
be white head coverings available to purchase at WTY if you
forget yours or don’t have one). Wearing a head covering is for
your personal growth and upliftment. It also helps keep your
positive energy within. Wear shoes that slip on and off easily
because White Tantric Yoga is practiced with the feet uncovered.

Food For The Gods
A Savory Breakfast Food From India
We ate bhaji every day while in India, and
New Moon -
11 Days After - March 15
Full Moon - March 19
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
($13) - not on Friday
(After Sunday's class join us for a vegetarian potluck.)
A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
You have no claws, no strong nails. As a human being, you have no defense mechanism. Have you been made defenseless? No. Your defense lies in your intuition. If you can intuitively know what is going to happen, then you will not enter the sequence and not end up with consequences. That’s all the defense you have. And, what can give you that intuition? Your mind. How? If you have a meditative mind.
