Open House at KYL
and
2nd Friday ‘Open Studios’

March 12 - 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Fine Arts Building
410 South Michigan Ave - Chicago, IL
After work this Friday, March 12, come to KYL and experience the gong with Hari Dev Singh in Suite 514, check in on our teachers-in-training in Suite 501 and then visit over 30 artists-in-residence of the Fine Arts Building (FAB) as they open their studios to the public in a once-monthly event called ‘Open Studios.’

This is an exciting opportunity to roam around a century-old Chicago landmark—the FAB—which is also KYL’s home! The Fine Arts Building is a beautiful space filled with musicians, dancers, yogis and visual artists-- many of whom have their work represented in local, national and international collections all over the globe.

If you have enjoyed the coziness of our home in the past, then this is an invitation to come back and rediscover all that the FAB has to offer … including yoga, meditation, the gong and a rich dedication to the arts. And, if you or your friends have never ventured inside the FAB before, then, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. We hope to see you on Friday! (There is no charge for this event.) (Conference Calls Monthly: June, July, August, Sept., Oct., Nov.)
“If you want to learn something, read about it.
If you want to understand something, write about it.
If you want to master something, teach it.” -- Yogi Bhajan
We are all teachers
We teach each other when we can see ourself clearly and when we can help another see him/herself clearly. To teach is to transform and to be transformed. To be the best teacher we need to be the best student. And, the best student comes from a genuine immersion into a practice where we learn to be who we are and serve all from the heart.

Training Team
If this sounds like something you would like to experience, why not join us for two separate sessions—the first this spring and the second next fall—for the 220-hour Level 1 Teacher Training course in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan that is called ‘The Aquarian Teacher?’ When you do, you will receive guidance from an international team of teacher trainers including KRI’s Director of Training for Kundalini Yogis worldwide, Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D.

Ashram Setting
This is an unusual Level 1 course format, especially designed to create community in an ashram-like setting where your senses, mind and body will be nourished (and challenged!) by the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. It is also golden opportunity to learn reverence and respect for yourself while being immersed in a discipline which can liberate you from the cycle of birth and death.

New Venue
Our recent switch to a new venue for this course means a significant reduction in room costs - Lodging & Meals fee has been reduced 25% to 55%.  Plus, the tuition fee is 23% lower than the Chicago course fee.  Click Here for more details.

Healing Power of Triple Gong & Mantra
with Shakta Kaur, Hari Dev Singh, and Sanjam Singh

Friday, March 26
6:30 pm to 7:45 pm
($15 in advance / $17 at door)

Bring a friend and join us on the first Friday of Spring for one of our popular monthly sessions of gong and mantra—for prosperity! For March we’ve chosen another mantra for prosperity so you may enjoy the coming of spring with all the abundance that you deserve! As always, we begin every ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ session with light Kundalini Yoga to prepare the body for what’s to come (the yoga is appropriate for all levels). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste symphonic gongs. Your mind will have no defense to the gong after 90 seconds!

After the gong we use sound (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. And, as we vibrate a particular combination of sounds, we are able to tune into a different level of intelligence, or, consciousness.

The mantra for March is Ajai Alai (pronounced ‘uhja uhla’), combined with a special mudra (hand position) placed at the heart center to open you up to experience a more expanded and prosperous life. (Mantra sheets will be available to practice the mediation at home, too!) Join us for the deep vibrational healing of triple gong and mantra on Friday, March 26 - Click Here to register.

Details
The beauty of White Tantric Yoga is that it is subtle, it is exalting and it works to give you the mastery of life.” -- Yogi Bhajan

The yogis say that our minds release 1,000 thoughts in the blink of an eye. Some of these thoughts get lost in the unconscious and some get stuck in the subconscious affecting the conscious mind. These thoughts become feelings, emotions, desires and/or fantasies. Instead of mastering our mind, our mind and thoughts end up directing us!

White Tantric Yoga® (WTY) enables you to break through these subconscious blocks so that you can have a more enjoyable life. In the shortest time (one full day) you can experience release from a lot of the burden you carry in your mind.

WTY is done in pairs as a group meditation. Everyone sits facing a partner and follows instructions for the meditation given via DVD by the Mahan Tantric and Master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan. [No need to bring a partner.]  A representative of the Mahan Tantric will be present to facilitate WTY Chicago.

Our day will consist of between six and eight meditations incorporating:
· a yoga posture (Asana)
· an eye focus (Dristi)
·
a hand position (Mudra)
· a breathing technique (Pranayam)
· and/or chanting (Mantra)
Sometimes the meditations are accompanied by music. The meditations vary in length, up to 62-minutes. There are ample breaks between each meditation. The environment is peaceful with a friendly, uplifting and supportive atmosphere.  Come spend the day with us and fortify your spirit!

Included in the course fee is a wonderful vegetarian lunch, featuring recipes from Hari Dev Singh's kitchen.  Click Here to register.

In this unique six-day course called ‘Authentic Relationships’ you will learn how to consistently connect with the true identity of yourself and others. You will gain the skills to prevent judgments, fears or circumstances from obstructing your view of the true identity of everyone in your life - as ‘Sat Nam.’  Penetrating through illusions and always relating to the true Essence—the Oneness of all—in your relationships is the ultimate goal.

Come explore how to:
  • Create and maintain Soul-based relationships;
  • Honor the polarities of the male and female energies;
  • Recognize and create Authentic Relationships in each area of your life; and
  • Cultivate personal practices that develop your capacity for Authentic Relationships.

Each day you will study with the Master--Yogi Bhajan--in a video class and meditation. In addition, you will work individually and in groups, exploring the key concepts and ideas in Authentic Relationships. You will experience kriyas* and meditations as well as other processes to recognize how your personal life is affected both by Authentic Relationships and by relationships with a false core.

This is a 60+ hour course; one of five Level 2 modules. Fifty hours are spent in the classroom with 12 hours of home-study to be completed 90 days after the course concludes.

Your Faculty:

Lead Trainer KRI Director of Training Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D.  We are graced with the return of Gurucharan Singh to Chicago for ‘Authentic Relationships.’ Gurucharan is an expert in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®, and has been the interpreter and compiler of his teachings since 1969. He serves as the International Director of Teacher Training for the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI), which he co-founded in 1972.
Level 2 Trainer GuruMeher Singh Khalsa serves as the Director of Training at Yogi Bhajan’s original yoga studio, Yoga West, in Los Angeles. GuruMeher has over 25 years experience teaching Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. He is a respected life coach who helps others via yoga, meditation and personal mentoring to accelerate growth, remove obstacles and increase their happiness.

*In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® a kriya is a sequence of postures, breath and sound that are integrated together to manifest a particular state. When you practice a Kundalini Yoga kriya the result of its repetition is access to a particular, predictable and stable state—one facet of your awareness.

For Your Health
The FDA allows you to consume a drug they label...

"Not for use in humans. Individuals with cardiovascular disease should exercise special caution to avoid exposure. Use protective clothing, impervious gloves, protective eye wear, and a NIOSH-approved dust mask."

160 countries have banned this drug, including China, Europe, and Taiwan. But the FDA says it is OK for use in your cattle, pigs, and poultry.

Moon Watch
CURRENT MOON

Full Moon - February 28

New Moon - March 15ish

(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)

Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum, so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it, you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous causing side effect.)

Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought of as the best time to start a new project.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
Once the reach of a man was only twelve miles. Today the whole planet Earth is just one game. So please qualify yourself. Adopt whatever kriyas suit you the best and practice them daily so that you can always find your balance and your excellence.
"
